I sleep usually nice and hard (deeply) . But sometimes there is problem falling asleep...I think about many different things and the time just goes and goes..1 or 1,5 hours before I fall asleep.
And sometimes happens that during the day I get really sleepy and I take a nap for 1-2 hours. Then I can't fall asleep as easily as usually also.

I took Ambien and Xanax right after my father died in 1999. Took them for about 4 years until I started reading how long term use of Ambien could do some damage. Switched to Lunesta for about another couple of years then decided to abandon any kind of prescription sleep aid.

Started taking 3mg of Melantonin and it really does the trick even though it might take an hour or so.

I sleep pretty soundly especially on the weekends but we're moving into a time of year where the sun comes through a big bay window that's about 15ft up the living room wall in my apartment. Now until spring time the sun comes through that window and shines on the wall right outside my bedroom and causes a reflection. I have to remember to close my door almost shut before going to bed.

A few weeks ago I was looking for new bed sheets and pillow cases and I saw these from a company called RE I think that are made of the same thing thick T-shirts are made out of so they are very soft. I really like them.

Sounds like me!There is a relativelty new product on the market for people who awaken too early in the morning & cannot go back to sleep. Its called "Intermezzo".I'd like to try it ,but here in the states its prescription only.Any of the generic types of the Xanax family of prescripts will work good too, for too early awakening. You have NHC ask your doc, if you allready did'nt?

Or do as I do ,take a low dose of doxylamine succinate, thats an OTC sleep aid found in store brands everywhere, or in Unisom. Its effects are really a knock out punch for many, like me,so take a very small dose, cut the pill in half, before you try a whole one.The only problem with it is,its very effective for a few days, but then its effects are much weaker after a few days of taking them.Everyone who I asked who tried them seem to think as I very good if taken say at 3AM,in a very small dose.Good for say 2-5 hrs. of pretty good sleep.

The herbal tea before bed-time is doing wonders for me. I go to bed with very heavy eyelids, and it's very rare to wake-up in the middle of the night. Still do sometimes, but very rare.

I took 3 weeks leave last month and the sleep was glorious. I was worried when I went back to work I couldn't keep it up, but apart from the difficulty of having to get up early, I still get a goodnight's sleep,

Arrrgh, since I made that last post my sleeping pattern has turned. I still fall asleep pretty quick, but I now wake-up around 4 am and doze until its time to get up. It's leaving me pretty exhausted during the day.

I'm the same. Woke at 3am this morning and dozed on and off for 4 hours. Makes you weary.
