About 20 years ago a friend of mine was in a crash with his VW Beetle. The back half was fine but the rest was a writeoff.I bought it off him a week after he got home from the hospital.I knew a guy with a Harley that got runover by a truck (the bike was parked at the time) and bought it from him.Cut both in half, took the top off the car and started to join them together.About 6 months later I had a working VW Harley. It took another 2 months to get the car body looking right.I drove it around for 2 years before my ex-wife made me get rid of it.If I can find the pictures of it I will add them.My ex tossed most of them it the trash and I can't remember where the rest of them are.

I'd love to get my hands on a Vincent Black Lightning, even if only to ride it once. I have actually ridden a Black Shadow, and it was a blast.

Best bike I ever had was a Yamaha 600 Fazer, circa 2000. Loved that bike, really comfortable and easy to ride. Before that I had a Honda CBR600 - lovely bike too, especially to look at, but I found the riding postion to be just a little too sporty for my liking.

Re The Black Shadow-wasn't that the motorbike that Richard Hammond couldn't wait to ride in Top Gear, one of those crazy speed challenges and not only did he get soaked, and have cramp but he also burnt his legs on the engine cover

My main bike is a Kawasaki ZZr1100, I,ve had the front suspension revalved and resprung, replaced the rear shock with an Olins unit, the air filter is a K+N, the carbs have a Dynojet kit fitted. The exhaust is now a Micron system,a 4-2-1 stainless one.In the last couple of weeks, I,ve replaced the oil cooler, with a bigger one from a later model 1100.
Its the nearest I,m going to get, to having my own jet fighter !! Ron |

Born To Be Mild
I've just remembered that back in the summer of 68 my mate and I both had an NSU Quickly just like the one in the pic.
Possibly the most inappropriately named vehicle in history. You had to help the engine by pedalling when you came to a hill. We had no tax, insurance, MoT, brakes or helmets so we just raced each other across the fields near home - crashing and falling off every 5 minutes until the bikes were wrecked. |
