I expect to be bombarded with mediocre Star Wars, Star Trek, Terminator, Predator and Alien sequels and prequels until I'm dead and buried. These franchises have become so tired and worn out, they make Teri Weigel look like a spring chicken.

There is some good potential in the Alien universe, but they can't keep bringing Ripley back. Prometheus was ruined form e because of the idiotic and moronic behavior of what were supposed to be highly trained professional scientists. "Oh we're stuck in a cavernous place because there's a storm raging outside and Oh Gee this snakelike thing that looks kinda like a Cobra suddenly appeared and has reared up. How ADORBS!!!! SO CUTE!!!! GAHHHHHH!!!!!!! It's got my arm get it off get it off!!!!" Fuck. You. Ridley Scott should be ashamed of himself for that abortion of a movie. |

Sequels that had no business being made
The Godfather Part III.
The 1974 sequel to the original 1972 movie was the perfect sequel of all time. But to wait 16 years for part III, no, no, no! Being a massive Godfather fan (and Italian!), I found part III particularly boring and not up to par as it's two predecessors. The whole notion of a crooked Vatican, opera, cannolies was not Godfather-like. You missed on this one Francis! My 2 cents! |

Poltergeist II and III
Ooh, I do so hate retcons, especially when they fuck up the premise of a classic original. The original made it quite clear that the ghosts were of the inhabitants of the graveyard, and that they'd been disturbed by being left in place whilst the housing estate was built over them. It pointed it out on many occasions, even to the point of blasting the corrupt boss in the throat at the end. It also points out that the other entity that was responsible for kidnapping Carol Anne was a demon. NOT once did they say anything about some lame ass Victorian preacher. But yet, the sequels went out of their way to contradict all of that. I've read A LOT about the making of those movies, and at one point, up until the making of Return of the Jedi, there was a LOT of potential for at least nine really great movies. But between ESB and ROTJ, Lucas decided that he was more interested in merchandising rather than making decent movies. That, and him not being a competent writer or director, caused him to dumb them down and make them into giant toy adverts for babies, rather than the much more complex and mature movies that ESB was. |

Sequels that had no business being made
How about the subsequent Halloween movies after the first one. Please, that should've been it!!! Where are they now up to, Halloween Part 18+ or what?? Enough already, especially that the freakin plots ARE ALL IDENTICAL except for the greying of the hair on the star "Michael Myers". Please put this boring franchise to rest, please!

The Exorcist 2023
Quote:
Apparently, there's another sequel in store of The Exorcist. Like the Halloween remake, this one takes place directly after the first Exorcist movie. Hollywood has officially gone to hell.
