Oh god no! Disney would made it too twee and no doubt have had some animation in it which would have lost all its credibility as a good non-Disney family movie.

So it is official JAMES BOND WILL RETURN as Daniel Craig confirms he will play him for ONE last time. He made this confirmation on the Late Show with Stephen Colbert(shame it wasn't with the other Late Late Show host James Corden who is British) after months of speculation and rumour. It hasn't been said who is to be the director but I am pretty sure it won't be Sam Mendes. No other official information as to who his co-star will be but safe to say that Naomi Harris and Rory Kinnear will be back and Ralph Fiennes as 'M'

I'm glad that Craig is doing another, I wonder if Christoph Waltz/Blofeld will be back? Will be interested to see where they go from here, I hope they take it back to the more 'Skyfall' type of standalone movie, I get a bit tired of the 'and this time it's really personal' plots of these movies, like the last Jason Bourne, where you think surely they can't cram in yet another father-figure from his past that he has to take out........

Roger Moore was 58 when he stopped being Bond; too old for the role. Craig is 49, but still looks the part. But yes, time to stop after this one and find a new Bond. Please, god, be more Casino Royale than Quantum of Solace... But I look forward to Fiennes as M; the implication being that he has been operational in the past in his own way (even if the SAS connection was mangled somewhat).

I think that's the thing - Moore looked great for 58, but there was no way he was believable as the guy doing all those stunts, fights etc, he didn't put a lot of effort into staying in shape, and he acknowledged that he found it acutely embarrassing having to do love scenes with a girl when he realised he was the same age as her parents. They tried to make him the same Bond as he was when Connery played him in his mid-30s.

The age thing doesn't bother me so much, because Craig can definitely still pull it off, and Bond is supposed to be worn down, too many missions, too many martinis. Craig has the physique to be believable, and it depends what they do with it - it could be Bond getting to the end of his rope and realising he hasn't got it anymore, and time to find a good woman and a piece of land and raise some kids (which I think was actually meant to be the end of the Spectre, him deciding to settle down with that French lass).

As long as they make it more like Casino Royale with a decent Theme song, none of the dreary shit we had in the last 2 films and a decent Bond villain who isn't as camp as a row of tents!

I am not worried about the age thing perse but if you are going by the books James Bond was in his thirties so should remain a timeless character but judging by his latest film 'Logan Lucky' Craig looks in pretty good shape.

I should add that I saw the trailer for Logan Lucky not the film itself which isn't out yet.

One of James Bond's most famous cars, the AMC Hornet, used for the river jump in The Man With The Golden Gun in 1974, is expected to fetch up to £250,000 at auction in America. The spiral jump was done in one take and earned the driver/stuntman an instant $1,000 dollar bonus from Cubby Broccoli.

Question

I haven't read much of this thread over the years, so forgive me if my topic has been discussed before. I was watching some of the vintage Bond movies recently when I caught a mistake, or inconsistency, in the story continuity.

In You Only Live Twice Bond visits the British agent Henderson in Tokyo:

Quote:
JB: Mr. Henderson?

H: At your service. I believe you wanted to ask me some questions.

JB: Yes. Excuse me. (hits wooden leg) Thank you.

H: I'm glad you got it right. I lost that in Singapore in '42. You must excuse this rather odd mixture of styles but I refuse to go entirely Japanese...You've never been to Japan before, have you?

JB: No, never.
But in From Russia With Love, when Bond is discussing the coding machine with the Russian female agent, Tatiana Romanova, and their conversation is being transmitted back to London:

Quote:
TR: Once, when it was being repaired, I saw the insides. There were many perforated discs, made, I think, of copper, with a small light...Dushka, tell me the truth. Am I as exciting as all those Western girls?

JB: Once, when I was with M in Tokyo, we had an interesting experience...

M: (quickly interrupting) Thank you, Miss Moneypenny.
Assuming that From Russia with Love takes place a few years before You Only Live Twice, I'm surprised that no one caught that. Or am I unaware of something? I'll leave it to you 007 experts to explain.

Given that Henderson also makes the infamous Martini mistake in that scene I would suggest that Bond is merely being polite and doesn't want to correct him.
