Laurence Olivier as "Is it safe?- Mad dentist- Szell" in Marathon Man.
Al Pacino as "Scarface": "Frog face, you just fucked up.You steal from me, you're dead." Joe Pesci as Nicky Santoro in "Casino" I like Scorsese`s "Goodfellas" more, but in "Casino" Pesci`s role is outstanding.

The Tom Noonan version of Francis Dollarhyde in "Manhunter." The look on his face, when he wakes up next to the woman who loves him, says, "Oh, crap! I've blown it! This could have all been different."
Mary Astor as Brigid O'Shaughnessy in "The Maltease Falcon." Proto-type femme fatale. Another great deadly femme: Claire Trevor as Helen Grayle/Velma in "Murder My sweet." There are several villains in "The Big Sleep," but the deadliest was the hit-man Canino, played by old-time Western star Bob Steele. Canino was also played well - more psychotic - by Richard Boone in the "Farewell, My Lovely," version. Kris Kristofferson as Big Charlie Wade in "Lone Star," one nasty, evil SOB. |

Of course Manhunter gave us the first and best Hannibal Lecter- Brian Cox,much better than Anthony Hopkins' overdone, overblown version.

Michael Caine in Get Carter, well they were all villains really but he played the part with a quiet confidant menace.
Also the Joe Pesci character in Goodfellows, a real phsycopath.
