That's true. I'm kinda amazed DC has kept the thing about Batman having a son, who's also Robin, going for so long now. I think they introduced Damien Wayne in 2007, and here it is nearly 10 years later. Wow.

On the topic of Superman, it's irritating to think that according to DC continuity, there has been four different Supermen. Try explaining that to someone who's trying to get into comics these days, and watch their head explode.

#1 The original 1938 Superman (Kal-L), who operated on Earth-Two.

Active: 1938-Mid 1950's.



#2 Earth One/Silver Age/Bronze Age/Pre-Crisis Superman (Kal-El) of Earth-One.

Also had the addition of being Superboy prior to Superman. Supergirl as his cousin. All the super pets. All the different colored kryptonite, ect.

Active: Mid 1950's-1985.



#3 Post-Crisis/Modern-Age Superman

Like the 1938 Superman, this Superman was not Superboy prior to Superman (this did change), and was not as powerful as the Pre-Crisis Superman. Though he did marry Lois, and this was the Superman killed by Doomsday in 1992.

Active 1986-2011



#4 New52 Superman

Thanks to the 2011 reboot, this Superman was younger than his predecessor, more brash, and got into a relationship with Wonder Woman, as opposed to Lois Lane. Who had her own boyfriend.

Active: 2011-2016



& now, thanks to DC REBIRTH, which saw the death of New52 Superman, the Superman #3 (Post-Crisis/Modern-Age) has been given a second chance. Giving DC Comics a more mature, and more confident Superman, but one who also remains married to Lois, and now has a son, Jonathan.




That about does it.

I never liked such conceptually, really didn't like it in Superman Returns and its planned sequel & I really hope they don't try it in the DCEU.
However I am liking it so far with Rebirth.

I got back into DC comics around Flashpoint. Luckily for me I found a kindly and patient comicbook guy who over a few coffees more or less explained events leading up to the New 52. And I've kind of...sorta stayed in the loop.
I like the DC Elseworlds better than the canon though. And I thought the Multiverse series was brilliant. Calvin Ellis is a great Superman.

One of my favorite recent Marvel story lines, was the Superior Spider-Man arc where Doc Ock effectively replaced Peter Parker as Spider-Man, basically switching minds and bodies with him, and actually gave a earnest effort in becoming a hero.

For a guy who always considered Ock to be Spider-Man's #1 enemy, it was nice to finally see him put back in the spotlight once more after having to deal with Marvel shoving Norman Osborn and the Green Goblin down our throats for so many years after they decided to resurrect him after nearly 2 decades in 1997 or so just in order to make sense out of their Clone Saga mess.

I don't read any of the superhero comics so can't join in, but I do read comics. All time favourite remains Neil Gaiman's Sandman series and currently I'm enjoying Saga most out of my subscriptions.

Speaking of Non-Superhero comics, one I've been wanting to read, now more than ever, is Garth Ennis' PREACHER. Mainly due to enjoying the AMC television series.

I started reading comics relatively late in life.In My early twenties,This was in the early 80's comics "Dark Age". I began with Alan Moore's seminal "The Killing Joke",Brian Bolland's sublime artwork spoiled Me for less detailed art.

It therefore did take a while before I appreciated the great classic of the period,Frank Miller's masterwork ,"The Dark Knight Returns"

Well, for me it's official. After the conclusion of #3 I've well and truly gone off Superman Rebirth...at least until the kid gets banished to the Phantom Zone and the New 52 Supes comes back to life.
