As for WINDOWS when your browser freezes instead of re-booting try

keyboard via the task manager
- ctrl alt delete / applications / select and end task

NO SCRIPT FIREFOX ADD-ON INSTRUCTIONS


You only need allow the website name on the no script menu
via right clicking the screen on entering , left click website name to temporarily allow

For filehosts that use captchas you need to allow
recaptcha , captcha or solve media - on some hosts this means allowing no script twice
Once when you first enter and then when your on the captcha page

Streaming video sites require the website name + the plugins
- the easy ones are like dailymotion - dm cdn.net
- the harder ones wont give you any idea which are needed to run them

For large mega sites like news no script is not quite useless but to make everything work on these pages takes a lot of trial and error when you have 40-100 scripts

- temporarily allowing all usually towards the bottom of the list is what I use for sites I trust
but i only do that because i place my browser inside a sandbox called sandboxie just incase a site has been hacked and has malicious script embedded

Under security & privacy

Adblock plus
Adblock Plus Pop-up Addon (extends blocking to mouse clicking and other actions)
BetterPrivacy (removes lifetime flash cookies - LSOs)
No script

There are others but for mine the above are enough to thwart most unwanted scenarios

mainly at posted photo galleries (more than 6 pics): although thumbnails displayed there are sometimes lacks of big images at host gallery

A server or 2 down for maintenance the most likely reason

This Dawson Miller post (6 months old) had 4 pics alive and 8 dead
when I downloaded it today

10 minutes after that download they were all dead

In my case, the code is missing for the image when I look at my post in edit mode. Have seen it in about a half dozen posts so far.

Edit: Using Firefox 29.0.1.

This is a new problem with IV.
Usually the one or two dropped images has been normal over time, but now entire posts are going missing.
I just saw a few entire posts with all dead images in the VTalk section.
Previous testing has me waiting to see what happens before reporting dead posts.

This may be related to the recent Chrome issue.
Perhaps when posting in this thread, members state which OS and browser you are using.


Chrome has been to blame for at least two new problems,
forum login / password requests, are coming up with a bug and
VBulletin Forum admins have been directing users to use FF and IE.

Chrome 34.0.1847.116 and Opera auto-fill password has a bug defeating some forum log-ins;

Until the bug is repaired, make Firefox or I.E. your default browser; restart PC; log-in using new default browser.

This and, I just tried to upload to IV using Chrome and IV says empty images.
Noting that, the images are stored on an external drive which I had already loaded here.
Same images for the same thread. I just tried to re-up, and denied service.

These two issues may not be related, but just in case, this is definitely not normal operation for ImageVenue.

This image does not exist on this server

but they are still giving the normal Upload page with no Information about any possible server issues

but Tobes' posts are still dead as a dodo

I've got a lot of missing images too. I use Safari on Mac OS 10.6.8
I'm thinking that if they don't come back online, I won't risk posting them to Imagevenue again when it comes to replacing them.

Past history says it fixes itself within 2-4 days and no amount of comparing notes will
fix it

I've said it in the past if your posting movies / clips - doesnt take a lot more effort to upload images to several imagehosts and save your post from becoming dormant

The last time imagevenue was on the blink I uploaded the same caps to imagebam

Of the 9 caps on imagevenue 1 is gone completely the rest are still alive
EDIT - of the 9 - 1 is alive and now 8 dead
