I do have the anticontainer-plugin installed.
I seem to need both add-ons as neither work for me in all situations.

define "all situations"? all important image hosts are included, even pimp and host works.

ps:

downthemall and anticontainer belong together. anticontainer doesn't work without downthemall. usually the installation of anticontainer forces downthemall to enable this feature, but if you've installed anticontainer before downthemall you may have to enable it by hand in downthemall config.

Next time I encounter a problem with DownThemAll I will post it here.

I had started using ImageHost Grabber due to failed downloads
and kept using it because I found it more convenient
for assigning downloads to particular folders
.
I have only been using DownThemAll when Grabber fails.

3) Is your anti-virus or firewall software preventing images?

4) Also, check your user control panel here at VEF to make sure that show images is chosen in the Thread Display Options.
(Near the top-right of VEF, click "Quick Links", click "Edit Options", scroll down to the "Thread Display Options" area, and "Show Images" is the third item in the "Visible Post Elements" box. Remember to click the "Save Changes" button at the bottom of that page if you change anything!)

Do you have other ideas?

Thanks for your help electile,

1) The firefox configuration is Ok, the "Load images automatically" is checked.

2) I do not have any advertisement or cookie blockers.

3) The anti-virus is not preventing images

4) I checked the user control panel and it's ok. By the way, the problem happens in other web pages, not just in VEF.

I'm desperate, I don't understand why IE works fine and FF didn't... I reinstalled the Java Console (the last version, 6.0.27) and still crashes.

@wildflower, try deleting your browser cache.

you find this option in firefox config settings -> privacy -> delete recent chronicle
(or similar, i use the german version)

just checkmark "cache" in details (and uncheck all other options) before you start the delete-action.

it's also recommended to check the harddrive which stores your browser cache (usually the same as your system drive c:/ if you haven't changed the location manually). start your dos console and type "chkdsk c: /f /r" (if c: isn't the correct drive letter, change it). it can take a while until it's finished..

and finally - defragmentation isn't a bad idea either.

Hi!

I found the solution in another forum! The problem is with the maximum simultaneous connection HTTP in Firefox 6 and 7. In the previous versions of firefox this value was set to 30, now is set to 256 and causes certain links become saturated. The solution is:

1) In the address bar, type about:config
2) If it shows up, click on I'll be careful
3) Filter for network.http.max-connections.
4) Change this from 256 to 48 (or a higher value, 48 works fine for me).
5) Restart Firefox.

Finally solved!

I reinstalled firefox and the problem is still there.
The strange thing is that with IE everything works fine... so I think the problem is just with firefox.

Download the beta version of IHG and you will avoid that problem:

Thank you wildflower! This fixes many of my problems, too.

One quick question for anyone to answer:
Is there some easy way to decide what value is optimum for our computer?

ImageHostGrabber is, in my opinion, easily the best tool for scraping threads and posts of pics that have been uploaded to any of the imagehost sites.

However, it doesn't help with grabbing pics from sites such as TGPs, and I note that some people here recommend DownThemAll. Personally, I find that quite a horrible add-on, but an alternative that I like is called Save Images.
