Still kinda in shock after reading [unallowed link removed] about Lorissa McComas.
Had no idea she'd suffered so much, not only the pain of her illness, but also the tragedy of her family.

EDIT: Okay, apparently we can't post b l o g s p o t links here.
The name of the article is: "A JOE'S EYE VIEW: The Lorissa Mc Comas Saga : An Unfit Parent or a Victim of Conservative Justice?"
Y'all are just gonna have to Google it.

Yvette Vickers possibly found dead, from AP via Yahoo:

LOS ANGELES – Los Angeles County coroners are trying to confirm that a badly decomposed body found in the home of former Playboy Playmate and B-movie actress Yvette Vickers is hers.
A neighbor discovered the body in a mummified state last week, police told the Los Angeles Times.
The body appeared to have gone undiscovered for an unknown period of time — anywhere from several months to a year — and investigators weren't able to determine if it was the remains of a man or woman, Assistant Chief Coroner Ed Winter said.
Neighbor Susan Savage told the Times she saw letters and cobwebs in Vickers' mailbox before going into her neglected home in the Benedict Canyon area to discover what she believed to be the actress's unrecognizable remains.
"The letters seemed untouched and were starting to yellow," Savage said. "I just had a bad feeling."
When she entered the house, Savage said she moved through stacks of clutter before finding the body upstairs in a room with a small space heater still on.
The 82-year-old Vickers had appeared in cult movies such as "Attack of the 50 Foot Woman" and "Attack of the Giant Leeches." The voluptuous blonde was Playboy's Playmate of the Month in July 1959.
Savage said she remembered her neighbor as an elegant woman with flowing blond hair and "a warm smile."
"She kept to herself, had friends and seemed like a very independent spirit," Savage said. "To the end she still got cards and letters from all over the world requesting photos and still wanting to be her friend."

I just ran across this on the web and see that will101 has already submitted it. I question an age of 82, however. I suspect her age was more like 74 or 75. (She was definitely not 30 when she posed for PB.)

As I remember, PB presented her in 1959 as a sort of "beatnik" (remember them?), with the PM shot showing her operating a serious (for the time) turntable, with jazz LPs on the floor. (As usual, PB made sure to portray her as an "unthreatening" beatnik—not too weird.) Her father was a jazz sax player, her mother a classical pianist.

Even in the awful "Attack of the Giant Leeches," Yvette Vickers stood out as a very special babe. Get a load of the scene with the oil.

Note: News accounts keep repeating an age of 82, one giving a birthdate of 8/26/1928. However, her PM sheet and another site give a birthdate of 8/26/1936, while yet another gives 8/26/1935. Of course, the same erroneous info can be repeated by any number of sources. But pictures of YV from several known dates make me think the 1935/6 birthdate is more probable.

Default Probably died a long time ago

Another article on Yvette's passing. She may've been dead for a year!:

Yvette Vickers, an early Playboy playmate whose credits as a B-movie actress included such cult films as “Attack of the 50-Foot Woman” and “Attack of the Giant Leeches,” was found dead last week at her Benedict Canyon home. Her body appears to have gone undiscovered for months, police said.

Vickers, 82, had not been seen for a long time. A neighbor discovered her body in an upstairs room of her Westwanda Drive home on April 27. Its mummified state suggests she could have been dead for close to a year, police said.

The official cause of death will by determined by the Los Angeles county coroner's office, but police said they saw no sign of foul play.

Just heard about the passing of Yvette Vickers yesterday. What a strange and sad story.

I wish the media would stop saying her remains were "mummified." That suggests that her body was embalmed and wrapped in linen after her death.

Kristine Winder

Learning of this beautiful woman's demise has made me very sad. While I find all the P*****tes beautiful, she was one of the most so, with her pixie-like face and slender dancer's body. I fell for her the first time I saw her, in the Entertaining Women NSS, and always wanted to meet her. That I will now never get the opportunity is probably the one thing that makes me the most sad about it.

Yes, she was quite a lovely looking, young woman as a Playmate. Not glamorous, but sweet looking. Ballet served her body well. Winder wasn't her real name, I understand. She used that to keep her father from finding out about her being a Playmate, so the story goes. It didn't work, so the story goes.

As admirers of feminine beauty (why else are we all here at VEF ?), this is a sobering reminder that we all must do what we can to support breast cancer awareness, research, and treatment. If you have a wife, sweetheart, daughter, granddaughter, or other family members or friends remind them to have their regular breast screening examination. Also, be aware that in some cases breast cancer is not just limited to women !

Amen Brother Rick, amen. My aunt fought breast cancer for over 20 years until her ravaged body finally gave out. Make sure the women you love get their check-ups and save the ta-tas!

And yes, check yourselves out guys. Peter Criss, the Cat-man from Kiss, recently revealed that he is a breast cancer survivor.

RE: Yvette Vickers

The new Entertainment Weekly has an article on her life and death. I could scan it and post if people are interested. No nudes, of course, but a few small pictures.
