Here's my top fifty,surprisingly, no room for, Law, Harvey,Young Norseman, ect.Some girls don't stand up so well when posing solo, as they do in couples,Ann Scott for example is twice as desirable when posing with Ruth Cavandish,to a lesser extent, the same applies to Ruth, but not to Marie and Nicola,miss ward and miss gorvin,and any other combinations from the girls I have chosen.Anyhow they were "hard" choices to make.

Wonderful Jane Mercer pics - thanks haydon ! Regarding the wearing of waistline high pants, it seems that the ladies who wore them in the 1960s, still wear them now. A few years ago I was dating a lady who was, then, in her mid 60s - quite a bit older than me. Her standard pants were always, as haydon describes, white, full in shape and waist high. She would wear nothing else. She looked fabulous in them and I told her so. Nick

Fabulous pic of Nicola and Marie - thanks JGW. I was reading some old postings by Medium 2 who mentioned that he had spoken to Laura S J and Nicola Taylor by 'phone. Must be the luckiest man on the planet ! Care to tell more about this Medium2 (if conditions and ethics will allow)? I'm sure I'm not alone in wanting to know how you were so fortunate in doing this and in what circumstances you encountered them. Were they still modelling? Nick

I was working in media and played around with the idea of doing a feature on S & S. Whether features make it beyond the research stage depends on a variety of factors and this one ultimately didn't. I made contact with RT Staples who pointed me in the direction of some of the photographers who had worked for ToCo. Included was Ken Howard, who I spoke to (No, I didn't ask him about his fireplace). He put me on to LSJ (who was very pleasant and helpful) and NT (who was.....less so). Laura/Brenda was still doing a bit of modelling, but not in the pin up field. She sent me a pic and she still looked pretty good (this was in the mid 1980's) but not in a glamour girl sort of way. All of the conversations were on the phone so I didn't get to meet anybody.

I think both were still in Bournemouth (as was Ken H). I'm sure it wouldn't be that difficult to find either them or some of the other models. An ad in the local paper, maybe? Ken must have photographed 20 or 30 Bournemouth girls for S & S and some of them would be bound to see it. Or, you could try ringing Nostalgia in York and seeing if they would be willing to divulge anything.

Thanks Medium2. I must visit Bournemouth some time. Pity I'm at the other end of the country. I suppose I could make a holiday of it. Would love to do some detective work to find out more about the girls. Nick
