I'm running 18.02 also and have had few problems. Running nine extensions (mainly security related) that all seem to work fine.

Machine is a Core 2 Duo with 4 Gb RAM.

It seems now to have been recognised by some in the Mozilla community itself that they've rather pissed on their chips by tying frequent security updates to changes in the user interface. You can see the problems I've had with this in my post on the previous page. So here's a way to bring the update process under your control by installing another version of Firefox separately and then turning off updates for the original one. This fixes those annoying messages, kennyjackson.

Even if you're already running the current version of Firefox you can safeguard it this way, because the second version will update automatically while the first remains where it is; I use this configuration to preview new versions, and only when all my add-ons work - or I can find replacements for them - move on to the next level. Sometimes I'm too hasty, as you can see from that post I mentioned, but that's because most of the time there haven't been any problems. I have a new pc running Windows 8, and so far Firefox 18 running very well on the new OS.

Here is a cool extension I use, its called Super Start.
http://www.enjoyfreeware.org/superstart
This extension allows you to turn you home page into a customizable
page with all the sites you visit frequently in one place.

You can even add your own background picture.

This is my current Super Start set up.

I became addicted to this concept some year back when Opera introduced it.
http://arstechnica.com/uncategorized...ds-speed-dial/

Then I got speed dial for Firefox because when starting to use it half & half with opera I really missed the concept I depended on in Opera.
With speed dial you can set the grid & add multiple pages.
I have 3 pages of 3 rows of 5

It's really starting to piss me off. I thought I had sorted it earlier by disabling all my addons but after a short while it started happening again. It gets worse the more tabs I have open.

It started happening around about the same time that I updated Java, coincidence?
I'm getting this as well. Surfing the net all day with no problems... until I come here and Firefox grinds to a halt.

Firefox removed imagegrabber from my right click drop down menu during its last update. This is why I am hesitant to apply Firefox updates which seem to occur every other week.

I'm up to date with Firefox updates and IHG shows up in my right-click menu.

On the general point of updates, have you seen the answer I gave to your earlier post, on this page? On the specific point of this extension, I've just tried installing it and it won't appear on my menu either - but I'm running Fx 16.0.2. It does sound convenient, but on the occasions I encounter the kind of image it's designed to grab (set as a background so that you find you've saved the blank foreground) I just use the ordinary Firefox Save Page As; using Webpage Complete setting, the missing picture will be found in the folder accompanying the HTML.

Yes. I saw your previous post on updates and very much appreciate the response. I have resolved the problem. I was just wondering why FF has to update so often then change setting that you have tailored specifically to your needs sometimes erasing them altogether. This imagegrabber thing was a relatively minor inconvience but I wish they would stop screwing up your settings.

The easy no code way to remove the notification/ticker column in facebook.

I found the magic bean here lol
The only downside for some will be that you have to use Firefox browser to do this,
because this addon only works with firefox.

1. download nosquint.

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-us/fir...ddon/nosquint/

I have used nosquint for many years now because it helps me to manage the size of the text & the pages on every site I visit.
This way I don't have to manually switch the size & in many cases I just want to change the size of the text & leave the rest & nosquint has this setting.

Simply right click when you get to facebook
Choose nosquint site settings from right click menu.
Next boost the magnification to 35%.
Save the setting & viola. It's gone forever.
Also it makes the site more visible to boot so you don't have to squint.

The first screen is set to 30% & no effect.
The 2nd screen at 35% removes the column.
