I have been involved in a very minor way with a couple of Royal (very low on the list Royals) visits, as note taker to the important people.

What always amazed me was that the people who mouthed off most about their dislike of the royal family were the ones who went to the greatest lengths to be first in the queue to meet them. This was particularily true of socialist harridan type females and trade union officials.

That rings soooo true. Maybe they brought tape-measures with them when they met Royalty though?

If HMQ invited me to a garden party I would go; an invitation from the Queen is a Royal Command and I would always obey a lawful command from the Queen. Short of a Royal Command though, I would actively avoid meeting Royalty and gladly. All these "important" people (not just Royalty) are a pain in the arse and I want as little as possible to do with them. Let them get on with being "the great and the good" and not waste my time, and I won't waste theirs either.
