I've got two. One was taking my first steps. I couldn't see what all the fuss was about. The other I can date exactly. It was being woken from an important dream to look at a red glow in the sky which was the City of London burning at the beginning of the WW2 blitz. I was 20 months old.

I vaguely remember my dad placing a bowl of cereal in front of me, I mustn't have wanted it and tossed it onto the floor and my dad then giving me a smack on the arse

I asked him once if that ever happened, he replied "you got smacked daily, how am I supposed too remember just one of them?"

Blessings young children: sleep peacefully and well. Let the grown-ups sleep not, but open their eyes.

I think I posted this somewhere before, but my earliest memories actually go back to before I was born. Yeah, I know, get it all out now, if you would. But really, I still can recall being in a place before I was here, it was very comfortable, and safe. It was like floating in space, except it wasn't dark, it was kind of an off-white haze. I was aware that I was there, and that I existed, but I had no anxiety about it at all. I was absolutely content and complacent, kind of like in a holding pattern. Now those of you who know me know I'm not a conspiratist, or nut job, nor do I ascribe to weirdo theories. I'm pretty much a realist, but I'm telling you the truth, here. This gives me strong feelings about the afterlife, also. But anyway, that's another subject.

My earliest memory is sketchy. I vividly remember going to the vets to have our dog Penny put down, but this was when I was just shy of two years old, so I have difficulty believing that's true.

I also remember being on an old train going over a hill with my family. But when I asked my mother about it, that was when I was 18 months old.

Maybe I'm just crazy.

My mother dropping the freezer on my foot when i was five years old and a bit. Was one of those long pull out freezers and you used to have to drag out as it was kept under a cabinet space in the kitchen with a chopping on top . She was dragging it out to get me an ice cream and i must have been standing too close to it. Ended up in casualty with a doctor who told me my big toe nail would have to be removed and to count up to three. I got as far as one and he ripped it off. Stung a fair bit you better believe it Spent the next few weeks with a giant sock on my foot to help my bandaged big toe heal without getting infected and ending up me losing my foot or something Just as well it didnt happen today with this nhs because id have ended up coming home that evening as just a brain in a jar

Never even got an ice cream that day either

At 2 1/2 I remember my parents final argument as my mother had the station wagon loaded up to drive 600 miles to our new home. Though I prefer my memory at 3 of meeting my first friend and neighbor. Still friends today, though not really close anymore.

Sitting on the living room floor watching Neil Armstrong walk on the moon, live in living black and white on the old Philco TV in August of 1969... I was 4 1/2.

Wasn't live if you saw it in August. Armstrong set foot on the Moon July 20, 1969. I was 11 so it wasn't my first memory.
