I could go and see an emergency dentist, but my wallet wouldn't like it. Best to stick it out until tomorrow.

the reason for this is that, by now even the most pro-war idiots have realised that there are no iraqi weapons of mass destruction.

those MPs that are currently running for the labour leadership that were not MPs at the time britain helped the US instigate an illegal regime change, are drawing on the moral high ground and saying the iraq invasion was a mistake (a mistake they did not make), in this camp are ed miliband and ed balls

in the other camp is david miliband who was fully in favour of the iraq invasion, but now wants to draw a line under it, in the same way that the nazis would have wanted to draw a line under WWII at the nuremburg trials

Personally I hope ed balls wins, he may be a bully, but the milibands are slimy self serving little sh*ts, typical of new lie-bour politicians that brought the country to the brink of economic disaster

The problem is that in the case of Iraq there actually were WMD's, & the germ cultures required for this were given to Mad Sad by Donald Rumsfeld on behalf of his boss Georgie Porgie during the Iran Iraq war.
The biggest problem with the illegal invasion of Iraq is that the guilty parties ( T Bliar & co) in the U.K have never been brought to justice before a war crimes trial.

Default Mounting excitement

I saw this in today's Grauniad -

"A 66-year-old man was jailed today for having sex with a horse and a donkey.

Joseph Squires was sentenced to a total of 22 months, a Leicester crown court official confirmed today.

He previously pleaded guilty to buggery of a donkey between 2 February and 5 February 1999, and buggery with a horse between 15 and 18 March 2004."

Joseph Squires - of "no stable address" thats the bit that made me laugh considering who his offences were against.

Is that actually what happened? Donald Rumsfelt was Secretary of State for Defence under Gerald Ford, then, a quarter of a century later, Secretary of State for Defence under George W Bush. He is both the youngest and the oldest person ever to have been appointed to this office. But the war between Iraq and Iran ran from 1980 to 1988 and during this period Rumsfelt was not in any executive position under either President Reagan or President George HW Bush. He did hold important positions under Reagan, most notably a stint as his Middle East envoy and several committee posts, but was not entrusted with a major office of state and was not in a good position to give or sell anthrax germs to Saddam Hussain.

I always thought we Brits were the ones who sold nerve gas and anthrax germs to our staunch and dependable ally, Saddam Hussain. This is how we know what he possessed and how we know he never accounted for his nasty stockpiles. It's not a new story. Most of the cannons in the Spanish Armada were forged in English foundries. Same old same old.

The biggest problem with the illegal invasion of Iraq is that the guilty parties ( T Bliar & co) in the U.K have never been brought to justice before a war crimes trial.
I need to correct you on a number of these points

a) the iraqi WMD question was whether they had any immediately prior to the US and UK invading in 2003, not whether they had any chemical weapons in the decades prior. it is indesputable that saddam had chemical weapons in the 80s as he used them against the iranians and subsequently the kurds

the invasion was based on a supposedly credible threat in 2003

history has proven that in 2003, iraq had no WMD

b) rumsfeld never sold bio weapons to saddam, only chemical weapons, which it seems was all expended during the iran-iraq war as none has subsequently been found in the 2003 invasion

although hawks claimed that iraq had bio weapons, to my knowledge there has never been proof of this. to my knowledge the anthrax enabled missiles commonly quoted have never been proven to exist

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/arti...l-weapons.html

c) when rumsfeld sold chemical weapons to saddam in the 80s, dubya was not PotUS

PotUS at the time was ronnie the cowboy

d) the germ cultures talked about were ingredients in a bio weapons research program, which did not yield any useful results. there were no biological WMD only wishful thinking by sadam and the US hawks

I agree with you completely regarding the guy(s) who have blood on their hands. Shame there isn't going to be a warcrimes trial anytime soon. I would love to see TB hanging by his kneck from a bit of rope

I think he would have got away with a lesser sentence if when asked by the judge if he had any extenuating circumstances, he hadn't replied "neigh, m'lud"

Hiya folks
Well its rapidly cooled down and thats why I am back on my own machine, HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME

I was watching Synth Britannia-BBC4 last week and it mentioned the onset of synthesisers to this country and its strange that NIN should mention Moog because that along with KORG was the instrument of choice for many new bands getting into the synthetic style of music in the 80's here-names like Fad Gadget, The Normal, OMD and Human League(before they got the two girls Joanne Catherall & Susanne Sulley) Fascinating to watch and see how things were-mind you Gary Neuman beat them all to it and had several number one hits, but eventually they made their mark-grandads of them all was KRAFTWERK (Autobahn & The Model)

Excellent game tonight England 3 Mexico 1 with a really belter from Glen Johnson-roll on Japan and then the BIG ones.
