There could be a time when I decide to give up all the hassle and go off line..... you put in a lot of effort and work, scanning , posting etc and get very little thanks for it ... I sometimes wonder why i bother.

If I packed in AOL tomorrow and went off line Ive got such a ton of stuff on usb hard drives and cd discs... it will all keep me going forever.
Id miss the e mails and the interactive stuff but I think I could live without the internet.

I agree collecting this stuff is no different than collecting comics, sports cards, etc. It just happens to be an adult hobby. And like any hobby it can turn into an obsession. Obsession is bad, hobby is good.

Either way anyone with a hobby usually takes a break from their favorite past time. Often times taking several breaks and returning once again.

I made the mistake of deleting all my files several times, only to come back needing to start from scratch. So I would never delete my stash again.

Women are beautiful and I love looking at them. Nothing wrong with that.

That's the thing - I think it is, and not for any of the reasons you mentioned (religious upbringing, angry girlfriend, cultural morality etc.) - it's just eaten into my downtime so much that it's pretty much a permanent fixture. You must be familiar with this pattern if you have 9tb of the stuff!?

The problem isn't the pornography. The problem is the extent to which it consumes my time, despite the fact it's enjoyable, at the expense of things I'm coming to realise I'd probably be better off doing instead.

In a perfect world, we wouldn't need porn. But the fact that we are here talking about it at all shows that we do. It's just the extent that needs to be addressed. I have for a long time considered if I may be a porn addict, and after considerable reflection concluded that I am not, but simply a born collector that likes interesting, nice and pretty things.

I have a number of extensive collections - I have collected stamps, banknotes and coins from when I was in single figures, scale model tanks, and sports programmes. All of these are carefully stored, loved, and pored over once in every while. I am anal about my collection in that wherever a gap exists it has to be filled, and will often spend lots of time seeking things out and replacing items that may not be top grade. I never do all of these things at once - I will have a "stamp period" where I hit eBay for days on end, and after that I will have a "coin period". And so on.

Until around nine years ago porn was peripheral to this. I'd buy a mag, maybe a small number of mags, and after having had my wicked way with them I'd have this guilty pang that it was getting a little much and I'd simply tear them up and bin them. No selling, no delaying, just rip, rip, dump. Much of this was down to my constantly having to be on my guard when I was younger to prevent my mother stumbling on any stash that might provide her with the unthinkable suggestion that I may be some sort of pervert, I guess.

When I met my current partner she was not what I could call a "fan" of porn, but she didn't attempt to hold anything over me about it. In fact, a few weeks after meeting her I actually showed her what was my very small stash - where she had great fun reading the "letters" and identifying those models with fake tits. Even so, I still had that residual guilty feeling and got shot of them.

Having given up on porn - well, given up as best I could - for a good six months or so I spotted a copy of Club on the top shelf of my local newsagent, and simply had to buy it. Sophie Moone and Sandy both on the cover were a prize draw and one I couldn't turn down - I just could wait to get home and have a tug. After buying around six successive issues, I have my porn epiphany: having seen how much they were selling for on Jobbydealer (which I found through my efforts to procure a couple of older mags that I have chucked out years before), I slowly became convinced that these wonderful publications were not just things to toss off over and then toss away, but potential collector's items. It was at this point where my (then) small mag collection joined the coins, stamps and the rest of it as something to collect and cherish rather than something solely to satiate my libido. The fact that they were that was seen as a bonus more than anything else.

I therefore found myself able to continue buying new copies of Club without feeling any need to throw them away, and whereas before I couldn't handle having more than half a dozen mags before needing to bin them my collection slowly expanded. Before I knew it I had three years' worth, and after that I started to fill in the gaps by visiting Jobbydealer and then eBid. I rebought nearly all of the copies of Mens World and Men Only that I chucked back in the 1990s, I am currently missing four issues of Club in a collection that goes back to 1989 and finished in 2010 when I felt that it had lost its lustre. I still occasionally take one out to have an old-school wank, but they are now well and truly a "collection". In fact, I am happily able to compare the four Clubs I am still need in much the same way as any stamp, coin or banknote that may be missing from my collection.

So rather than turn away from pornography, I simply reclassified it and embraced it further. I enjoy having them, they're nice to look at, and I have no more guilt about owning them. Until I reach the point where I want to get rid of them - and that I will one day do by carefully selling them to someone who will appreciate them - they will remain.

With regard to my digital collection my scenario is much the same as that of the OP. I collect photographs of around thirty different models, and have made it a mission to try and procure every photoset - a task achieved through VEF and other similar forums where there are likeminded people. Like the OP, I have reached the point where I am occasionally downloading sets without even looking at them - apart of course from the cursory check to make sure nothing is missing - and probably have thousands of sets that have never been "used". Of course, that's not to say they won't one day - the need to collect them is now the overriding concern.

I know I am a happy collector and not an addict because I can function perfectly well without porn. I can spent days at working without thinking about it, was able to go on a three week holiday without an Internet connection, and it has never got in the way of my home life or my sexual relationship with a real person. It's just something that I spend a few hours on every week.
