Notice how it stops to catch its breath. 40 lambert and butler a day is a bad habit.

Wait, I thought it was a dinosaur that caught the whaling boat and then went on to Tokyo and destroyed the city.

Or am I getting my foreign news shows mixed up with old movie channels again?

(note to self: remember to turn off tv before going to bed)

You are assuming of course that Salmond will still be around in two years time-surely someone will challenge him and don't forget he left politics for a while and then came back-when Donald Dewar stepped down or died-can't remember which, but I think Scotland will still be part of Britain come 2013...of course I could be wrong So do you want Scotland to break away and if so would you be in favour of ditching the pound for the Euro? Is Nicola Sturgeon your idea of a pin-up?

I posted this a couple of weeks ago in the What book(s) are you reading thread:

I read "Fifty Shades of Grey" last night. The only reason I had read it is because women everywhere (work, bars, soccer games, etc...) have been talking about it. Of course, quite a few men are talking about it too. Here is the wiki entry for it:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/50_Shades_of_Grey

I won't say that the book was fifty shades of shite because it wasn't that bad, but it certainly wasn't very good. The writing comes off as very amateurish and the first impression I had was that it seemed like somebody writing fan fiction. I didn't read the wiki entry until afterwards and it turns out it was. It started out as Twilight fan fiction that was a bit too erotic for the fan sites. She then changed the names and published the story. However, she did not rewrite the characters and they are easily identifiable as Edward and Bella from Twilight. The "highly erotic" sex scenes were anything but highly erotic and they weren't even as hot as what you would get in Penthouse Forum. If you think that this is a production of a lonely housewife that has read one too many romance novels and has probably watched Titanic so many times her DVD wore out then you would be correct.

I said above that I read Fifty Shades last night. That is true. It took me about two hours to read it while watching highlights of the Euro matchs, cooking and eating dinner, and cleaning up afterwards. The book wouldn't strain the brains of anybody on this forum.

I stand by everything I said.

edited to add: This "book" is part of a trilogy. I only purchased the first one and haven't bothered with the other two. It is selling for $17.95 per book at major booksellers like Barnes & Noble. I found it and the other two books in the trilogy on sale at $9.95 each at a remaindered book store. New books, not used. If you are interested I'm sure you can find it cheap somewhere.

Th last surviving Galápagos giant tortoise of the sub-species Chelonoidis abingdoni, also known as Lonesome George, died last sunday. He was over 100 years old. All attempts to save the species failed. Other animals must be thinking: why the Chelonoidis abingdoni, why? Why not that damn Homo sapiens?

Well if we were three in a bed I wouldn't climb over Nicola to get at you GM

No I don't want to break away - I like being British, but when you imply that I'm a foreigner because I'm not English it makes me feel as if we already have.

I think we are going to have a new currency in Scotland if we go independent-
it'll be called the "bawbee" and we will carry it around in a bawbag.
