a few members have mentioned dna testing which i agree with, because in quite a few cases if it wasnt for the dna test then a few killers would have got away with murder and i think the dna test is unargueable proof.

While I am opposed to the death penalty, I wonder how many of us would be if, Heaven forbid, a member of our own family or our child had been murdered and the culprit responsible was caught? I am pretty sure the families of Lesley Ann Downey, Keith Bennett and other victims would be quite satisfied seeing their murderers swinging from the end of a rope.

general opinion seems to be against capital punishment.but i think if i had a mother/father,sister/brother,son or daughter murdered by someone i would have a different opinion on it.one thing i always think of with this debate is the moors murderers brady and hindley when they murdered 10year old lesley ann downey,they made an audio tape of her pleading for her mother .then stefan kizco who spent 16 years in jail due to the incompetence of the police before being found innocent

I fully understand how any family would feel that way. But we are a civilised people and should not stoop down to state murder. Rotting in a jail cell is the ultimate kick in the face! Ian Brady (the moors murderer) has been forced fed for years. He wants to die but he is not allowed. He didn't give a shit about his victims, so why should we give a shit about him. Long may he suffer.

Brady has a hell of a life on earth and then has eternity in hell.
For some crimes I've got no interest in trying to re-habilitate the offender. The revenge society is getting on Brady is well deserved.
A pity that shite Raul Moat took route one to the fiery gates and denied society the chance to do the same to him.

Let's turn this around - what if a loved one was found guilty of murder and condemned to death, even though you KNOW they're innocent, everyone else thinks they're guilty, you just can't prove it. Would the death penalty still be right?

As for DNA testing, it's not foolproof. It's still subject to human failings - tests get mixed, sent to the wrong labs, contaminated. DNA testing may be 99% correct , but do you want to be that 1% that gets convicted due to faulty testing? (pulling numbers out of my arse there to prove a point).

Capital punishment is barbaric.

I am against the death penalty but as I say, if a member of my family was subjected to what those twats Brady and Hindley subjected those kids to, I can tell you I would want the bastards swinging from a rope. It is easy for us on the outside viewing it, state murder or not. Brady, Hindley, Shipman and any other sadistic murderer should forfeit any rights they have for their despicable vile acts. Those kid's and pensioner's rights went out the window at the hands of those monsters.

If found guilty then they should be locked up in a cell and forgotten about.
