Re Clifton James (Sheriff Culpepper Live and Let Die/The Man With the Golden Gun) I had no idea he was still alive I thought he had died years ago. I think his comical redneck sheriff(always calling people 'boy') was funny but his re-appearance in TMWTGGun was better as a loud-mouthed tourist. His line(when he realises what Bond is planning with the rickety bridge) "you're not thinking of..." to which Bond replies "I sure am BOY!" was brilliant and he served well as a foil to Roger Moore. He joined a select few that appeared in more than one James Bond film (Maud Adams TMWTGGun & Octopussy, Richard Kiel(Jaws) The Spy Who Loved Me & Moonraker)

Allan Holdsworth was not just another great guitar player. He changed the approach to this instrument like no other musician in the past 50 years. For me personally, Allan Holdsworth and Shawn Lane were the greatest guitar players in fusion and rock music of all time. Allan played with so many great musicians during his long path: Soft Machine, Jean-Luc Ponty, Tony Williams, U.K., Ian Carr's Nucleus, Bill Bruford and many more. But he always did his own thing and was never a mere hired gun. He was an influence and inspiration to all his colleagues. The cause of his death is still unknown but he didn't look healthy in the most recent videos I've seen. It was Allan's daughter Louise who informed the public of his passing and can be read here. Rest in Peace, Allan. I've listen to your music for so many times that it feels like I lost a family member. You were a hero and inspiration to many. |

Apparently, she died in March. From The Guardian: Jane Freeman (Shirley Ann Simpson), actor, born 12 June 1935; died 9 March 2017. Peter Sallis who played Clegg, must surely now be the last of the original cast members from Summer Wine. Good, old fashioned gentle humour. Being a Yorkshireman, so much of it hits home with me. I know barmpots like them! |

Did Gordon Kaye get a mention? I only just found out he died in January of this year. Sad, he was only seventy five. The convoluted misadventures (not to mention unlikely romances) of René Artois gave me a lot of laughs.
