Just when you thought it could not get any worse HMRC officers have raided WHU and seized Finance records, phones and computers. Several arrests have been made. They have also raided Newcastle and I believe one of those arrested is Mike Ashley, don't know if our three are still at large or under lock and key.
Update This from the Beeb, I see Dan Roan still hates us. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-39716009 This from Sky http://www.skysports.com/football/ne...nesday-morning Mike Ashley has not been arrested, one of the other directors under charge. All sorts of rumours on the social media sites, anything from Newcastle getting 30 million for Sissoko, or our signing of Piquonnes as well as lots of other speculation and nonsense. The latest from the Beeb on this mornings raids. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-39716009 Last two lines are probably the beginning of a rather large can of worms. Last edited by victor meldrew; April 26th, 2017 at 03:56 PM.. |

Tax Raids
Speculation at the moment, but as already referred to, this could be down to the old ~
"Tax Avoidance v Tax Evasion" Interestingly, the French Police searched and removed paperwork, computers, mobile phone etc from the big Sports Agency ~ Mondial Sports Management. They represent: Bilic Payet Cabaye Debuchy Thauvin Cabella Ben Arfa Riviere Mitrovic Saviet Sissoko If these people were paid off-shore, as well as their Agency, thus evading UK and possibly French tax, it will be a huge 'can-of-worms'. |

On a bit of a lateral....
When Sullivan / Gold owned Blues, they came across Barry Fry ~ more of a 'showman' than an intelligent football manager. Sullivan said Fry was like a kid-in-a-sweetshop, buying and selling players week upon week. He had, at one time 47 players on our books. Old older than 21 so no outlet for Academy kids. Sullivan found out that Fry, who was in charge of all incomings and outgoings, contracts and wages etc... was getting a percentage when he bought and when he sold. It wasn't illegal at that point. Just money that Sullivan and Gold weren't getting. So, the Lady Karren was put in charge of contracts. She set all the figures, wages transfer fees paid and saught. I just wonder if she retained 'oversight' of player/manager contracts when she moved upto the board at West Ham ? Might be a difficult position for the fragrant Brady ~~ if this issue is about tax-evasion/avoidance. When Wigan eventually brought Steve Bruce as manager for £3million, Brady went public and demanded Bruce return the £150,000 paid in advance for his "image rights"... the mind boggles... Bruce apparently hasn't spoken to her nor mentioned her by name, since. The Lady Karren will be familiar with both wages and 'image rights'. As Vic says...watch this space. |
