It sort of is, ruined today, I wasn't supposed to be here tonight,
Was actually in my hometown and staying the entire weekend, I have a door to fix tomorrow morning before I head back home, Just a bit unnerving knowing we won't be back here in Melbourne till Monday. I don't care if anything is stolen, everything is insured, it's just the ruining of a great start to the weekend.

I just meant that the place didn't get trashed and no-one got physically hurt. In my first burglary they broke loads of stuff just for the hell of it and tried to hurt my cat. She certainly had a broken rib. |

What annoyed Me today: I went to the doctors with My leg,Well both of them obviously,My usual nurse thought that I had a nasty infection,No not kind but and it's big but,I might just might have a Deep Vein Thrombosis. So a doctor needs to take a look and how many doctors were there ? That's right None,Zero, Bupkiss. The whole staff of the surgery comprised two nurses-and four receptionists. So I had to make an appointment for three hours later at the Health Centre,Got there 20 minutes early,Ended up waiting 45..Just for the Doctor to say that looks an infection and Gave Me some more antibiotics and some serious painkillers,You can't take the painkillers with booze so.Suffice to say I haven't taken any...

I'm sure it must have been kids that smashed the door, pays to have a good back to base security system, that's who alerted us, but had I as a kid done something like that I'm sure Dad would have not broken a rib but given me a real good belting

Had I got caught doing anything illegal as a kid (and even in later years) my father would have, well lets put it this way, make me wish I had never been born!

I am currently in the process of explaining to the courts why I felt it necessary to "chastise" someone for senselessly beating a dog with a shovel. They no longer own a shovel.

Yes, just once.
And get this, it happened at CHRISTMAS! I think it was either Christmas 93 or 94. That year my family went away to visit my uncle on the Isle of Wight for the week. In all fairness it was a nice Christmas we had that year with them. When we got back we went through the front-and immediately sensed something was wrong. It was when we went into the living room that we noticed some things had been moved. And then we noticed that the TV was missing, and the VCR had moved onto the floor. And also one of the living room windows (there were two windows in our living room, one to the front of the house and the other to the rear) was partially boarded up (the rear one). I can't remember what happened next, whether my father phoned the police or we found a note from them, but from what I could understand someone else (probably a neighbor) had seen someone lurking outside the house and called the police. According to them, they reckon that it must of happened not long after we'd left. They entered the back garden, smashed the (rear) living room window and made of with the TV. Which begs the question that even to this day we still wonder: Were they actually waiting for us to leave before moving in? Even now we still don't know for sure. The police had already been there and assessed the place (one thing I can remember is seeing that the VCR had a slight silvery sheen to it, where they had obviously dusted it for fingerprints). Fortunately for us, the only thing they took was TV-has far as we could tell, nothing else had been touched. Also, from what I could understand, they decided not to contact us at the time because they didn't want it to spoil our Christmas holiday with my uncle. They secured the house and waited until we returned home. There's one final twist to this tale: Back in the early 90's my mother use to run a children's playgroup at our church hall weekdays, and during that time I remember my parents saying that she had (unintentionally) been dragged into case with the social services. I think what it was was at the time one of the children had distinct marks on their bodies and was emotionally withdrawn whenever their parent showed up. This, understandably, concerned my mother and her child-minders, who were worried there might be some kind of physical abuse going on. Eventually she received a letter from the council saying that this case of child abuse had made it all the way to court, and has the head of the playgroup that child attended she was ordered to appear in court to give a witness statement, evidence, etc And she did. It was during a school day, so me and my brothers were at school (but I think my father took the day off for that). She stood in court and gave a statement. But the thing she NEVER really talked to us about it, or what happened afterwards with regards to the verdict, etc I still don't know exactly what the outcome was that day, but what I think happened afterwards was that family removed that child from my mother's playgroup and (apparently) were never heard of again. Even to this day we still wonder if it was that family that had done it, just to get back at my mother and her co-workers being involved in the social services. After about 23 years it's unlikely we'll EVER know who it was or why, but we still have our suspicions. We could never bring prosecution against them because we had no proof or evidence. It's still a mystery to this day. That was certainly one memorable Christmas for sure. |
