Fran Gerard
Interesting post I read, talked about her "death". Seems that the initial determination was she died in an automobile accident, driver. Later, very quickly,
the COD was noted as "undetermined". Question is based on photos, with her in the car, looked dead to me. Other photos showed her body removed. These are public, ones I was shown apparently are not so "public".Seems to me that death can be determined pretty quickly but "undetermined" is simply laughable. As for her body, supposedly cremated, ashes scattered. No idea who made that decision as it apparently didn't come from documentation found. Lot of questions still out there, if you have the time to go into "fact from fiction".. |

I have been told that Fran's official death certificate shows that she died at her parents' home, and that cause of death is not listed, instead it says "pending investigation" or some similar language. I have not previously heard that she was involved in an auto accident, this is definitely new information to me. I am told that the death certificate also says she was a waitress at a local restaurant for 17 years. That likely has a measure of exaggeration in terms of years of service, but she probably was employed doing routine work like waitressing at that point in her life. I've seen a few pictures of Fran from the late 70s/early 80s, and she was, to be charitable, a 'faded' beauty. One 1983 picture, 2 years before her death, has her looking quite plain, and very tired-looking. Her remains (or at minimum, a stone marker) are located at Fairhaven Memorial Park cemetery in Santa Ana, CA. https://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/f...GRid=164995527

Her name keeps showing up on the strangest sites, none related to her being a Centerfold in Playboy, but having a longtime interest in topics one might consider "odd", and at 71, I guess I can excuse my interest in "odd" topics, about any site that addresses "vanishing", missing, unexplained absences, etc, her name shows up. I seldom see any comment that she is gone someplace, gotten married, has a job, kids, etc. Being "normal" has no appeal. Wish her luck, if she is till alive and some privacy.

I'd be interested to see some later pics of her. It's fascinating how one of the most beloved playmates can just disappear without an easily accessible paper trail. Though I'm not a huge internet sleuth so it might not be as mysterious as I imagine.

I finally checked out some of those pics. Pretty fascinating stuff, though I felt a little weird sifting through a dead woman's family photos on an obit site. At the very least she seemed to have a good family, and despite her tragically short life it's good to know she didn't die forgotten to everybody.

Update
Ofc, this whole time I've been completely oblivious to a huge post from 10 years ago in the "In Memory of" thread that shed some light on Fran's life before and after March 67. Most of the details have been shared elsewhere but I think this sums it all up pretty well.
