60s-70s: Cynthia Myers, Marilyn Lange, and Marilyn Cole. Because they personified the stereotypes. The stereotype Playboy wanted you to believe (suave, sophisticated (Marilyn Cole) and the public stereotype (built like a brick shithouse but dumb as a bag of hammers (Cynthia Myers and Marilyn Lange).

80s: Lisa Welch, Karen Price, Patricia Farinelli, Kimberly Herrin, Marianne Gravatte, Petra Verkaik. Because they symbolized Playboy's new "West Coast" vibe and symbolized Playboy's pushback against the anti-porn crusade of the 80s (Donna Edmondson).

IMHO, no playmates are significant after the 1980s. Pretty, yes, but not significant. Playboy itself was fading.

True, it was in serious decline by the second half of the 90s.. That said, the early 90s produced some high-caliber PMs: Corinna Harney, Bonnie Marino, Stacy Arthur, to name a few,

Solid, without quibbling about placement, well over a quarter of yours would make my list and that's more agreement than would be typical when I compare my lists of these types with other people's.

I should have declared, I came of age in the 80s and 90s, so that influences a lot of my picks. Still respect the prior decades, especially the 70s. IMO Marilyn Lange is the prototype PM.

Phew, that only took 45 minutes. Taking up some of the discussion points above: Yeah, my problem with the PMates since the mid-90s is, too, not the models themselves, but the pictorials/style. Mostly uninspired, repetitive and then, in addition, the "plastic and retouching overkill" since the early 2000s. I'm in general into mid-60s to mid-70s aesthetics and I really love the hidden gems from this era, however the highest "density" of great PMates are the "classes" of 1980/81 IMHO. And, finally, I wrote it several times in the VEF, the 2010s were not a complete loss, some really really beautiful women with great classic bunny mag vibes.

So, let's start, and like @howdy2 I often have the "problem" in the VEF, that my lists are a bit "unusual", but, I guess, discussions about (female) beauty are hardly objective

Yep. That really killed my interest in the mag. The poses and sets weren't sexy. They abandoned the Girl Next Door ideal, and replaced it with peroxide blonde, fake tanned strippers with piercings and really bad implants. You can get that anywhere. 1981 was the high water mark. In any other year Karen Price would have been a lock for PMOY.

Same here more or less. I just checked my, "Who I Would Have Picked for PotY" or more generally, who was worthy in my view, list for every year and it was 179 names. So if I'm going to participate in this thread's exercise, I've got some cutting to do...

All of these are great lists; there's no objective measure of greatness here, so seeing everyone else's tastes is enlightening. Even (re)introduces me to Playmates I haven't seen (in a while).

My own tastes are going to run late 1970s to mid-1990s, with a few at the edges. To do a full 100? Plus ranking? That's gonna take a while. But it's a good bet the bigger the boobies the closer they are to my top 10.

I'm not even going to try to rank, it's a waste of time. I'll probably put my loose "favorites" at the top, but after a point it becomes insane. On any given day, one woman's beauty will fluctuate to my eye anyway.

I did my first cut and got it down from 179 to 114. I expected the 70s and 80s to dominate but surprisingly, was only half right. The 80s had 25 survive the first cut but second place went not to the 70s but to the 60s (and I wasn't even born until '68) with 22. The 70s had only 14 make it to the second round. Even the 00s managed 13. Now it gets tougher.

Ok, so here's my list. I had it in a different order but in the time it took me to format it, the site logged me out and I lost it all. So here it is in just plain old chronological order.
