Complex would be an under statement
I've never got my head around browser profiles and when they become corrupt More than a few have issues with the upgrades My rule of thumb with FF 1. dont fool around with its settings unless you understand what the outcome will be Like this one from August 2016 It turned out that when your Version is 47.0.1 and you have set the LOCKPREF Setting lockPref("app.update.url"); the Update will not work! I had to remove the lockPref Setting for the app.update.url and after that, the update worked. says my firefox is up to date with 47.0.1. (23/8/16) https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1135948 2. keep the number of extensions to a minimum because past history shows many undesirable issues come from them...every upgrade usually kills 1 or 2 if you have a lot 3. check your plugins - disable those that arent recognised / require more research If you can do without them remove the well known malware baits like java , adobe etc 4. realise there are alternatives to FF many of which use the same rendering engine and either the same add-ons or similar |
