Just read the discussion about Media Player Classic + Codec pack and wanted to share my experience about it. I used to have the same solution ( Media Player Classic + K-lite Codec Pack) a few years back, but it didnt really work out, because ive always had some conflicts while playing games or or using other media related software. Thats why, after installing a new OS, i decided to try players with internal codec libraries. The 2 players im currently using are VLC Player and Media Player Classic - Home Cinema edition. Those two can process almost every existing media format without causing any systemwide conficts and MPC can also be used to simply create screenshot arrays just like ImageGrabberII. Im not sure if those links have been posted previously but im gonna post them anyway.

A couple of quick tips about online tools (no need to download anything) because I keep seeing the same questions over and over again within threads:

1. How Do I Grab YouTube Videos? or Does Anyone Have This YouTube Video?:

pwnyoutube - In you address bar where you see http://youtube.com/******* , type in pwn before youtube and hit enter. Voila. You can download EVERY YouTube video posted this way. The video itself or just the audio if for some reason you need it.

See http://deturl.com/ if you need any help or tutorials. It's very simple.

Free Image Hosting by imgbox.com

2. Who Is This Model/Woman?

Google Image search now has drag and drop functionality!

a. You find a random picture of a hottie you need a name for. Rather than choke up the model request section, go to the Google homepage. Now click on the "images" link/tab at the top (some browsers may look different; I'm using Chrome 20.x.xxx.xxx).

b. Click and drag the image (no matter how small it may be) into the search box in the tab or window with Google Image open.

c. Google will spit out results (usually REALLY accurate) to the best guess and offer up other images as well. MAKE SURE YOUR SAFE SEARCH IS OFF.

d. You can also click on "all sizes" and sometimes find massive HQ copies of the pic you searched for. Success!

MODS: Feel free to move this, split it up or use this tutorial any way you you see fit. The Google Image reverse search should save you many headaches alone.

Hi, Threadbanger!
I'm using "Image Grabber II .NET", quite nice app.
Code:
http://www.videohelp.com/tools/ImageGrabber
or
Code:
http://image-grabber-ii-net.software.informer.com/
It's freeware, and has all the options that are actually needed. Capturing predefined number of thumbs, or frame by frame browsing through the video file, selecting and capturing by hand. Also, fine adjusting the output file (saving the individual screenshots in the native resolution, or creating a sheet with all the shots).

The only downside to "Image Grabber II .NET" might be the prerequisites:
If memory serves right, the system MUST contain "Microsoft .NET Framework" installed
Code:
http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=17718
which is not a major problem, since it is freely distributed via the above link, but ".NET Framework" from it's side requires "Windows Installer", also available (for free), here:
Code:
http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=8483
(or check out the MS site for the versions that suit your OS version the best).
Not the big issue, I just wanted to note it.

And the above counts for XP. I do not know the exact situation with "Win 7" (maybe all of that is already included, but I doubt it).
Also, check out the above "videohelp" site page. There are several other freeware applications linked. Maybe you could find some that's even better for your needs.

Now, back to your statement in a quote, about Mediaplayer Classic lacking fine control. Actually, that is not quite true, that is, if I understood your words correctly. Mediaplayer Classic (together with Combined Community Codec Pack (CCCP), which already comes with MPC-HC included, and which is the best codec pack, compiled by the true experts) is the only software I've been using for watching video files on my PC for years now. Instead of CCCP, some other light codec pack version could be used (but not highly recommended, because of the problematic stuff usually included), if you are not much into a nightmare of installing all the filters individually, although, that would be the best solution. And Mediaplayer Classic has the fine control, meaning seeking precisely in the video, frame by frame. You just have to assign the key/key combination in the options to do that:

(I'm using Media Player Classic - Home Cinema version, but the principles are the same):

Step 1:
View > Options;
or
right click on an empty space inside a MPC "screen" > Options;
or
the easiest way, hit "O" on the keyboard

Step 2: under "Player", in the left side treeview, hit the "keys" instance:

Step 3: on the right side scroll down to the "Framestep" control. Select it:

Step 4: in the "key" column, there should be some key already assigned to the "Framestep" control. You could use that one, or you could (as I do) change it to something more convenient:
just click inside a rectangle under the "Key" column. You would now get a drop down menu. Just scroll down to get the key you find the most convenient. I use "VK_RIGHT", which is a plain "right arrow" on the keyboard.
Finally, click the "Apply" button at the bottom right corner.

And the process is the same for the "Framestep back" control (next under the "Framestep"). Obviously, just assigning "VK_LEFT" key to it.

And now you could easily search for that best frame ("frame de la frame").

Pardon me if you already knew all that, and were actually asking for something completely different , but I hope this could be useful to someone anyway.

And MPC rules.
Cheers!

tested on vintage-erotica-forum and works perfectly
Imagehost Grabber Extension for Firefox is still working perfectly
Get latest modded version (with "Get selected pics from page"-option) from here
I'm still using "imagegrabber-1.6.6.20120106.xpi" but latest version "imagegrabber-1.6.6.20120624.xpi" should also be fine.
(btw. it's even working with latest Firefox Nightly)

Enjoy,

I'd like to recommend Peazip It supports 150+ formats. It unzips, zip files, rar files etc. It also joins together partial files and it's free.

http://peazip.sourceforge.net/

Does anyone know any free Usenet service? one that ideally supports encryption?

Thumbs up Disk & Registry Utilities

I've been using these freeware programs with Win 7 for about 4 months and they work quite well:

http://www.wisecleaner.com/

Wise Disk Cleaner gets rid of temp files, cache dumps, browser files, etc, without destroying your saved passwords in Firefox. Easy and free.

Wise Registry Cleaner cleans up your registry, and chases out registry entries that refer to uninstalled programs that you didn't like completely! I haven't had it destroy my registry, and I have had other "like" programs that did.

I don't recommend Wise 365 as it is a "pay-for" their complete suite with a few bells and whistles that I don't care about. But then it's your money, isn't it?

Enjoy!
