Attention: There is a prevalent email scam happening everywhere where the sender claims to have a password to a site and demands money in some form. Ignore it, do not respond and at most change passwords on any sites you frequent.

Effective immediately, moving or animated GIFs are not allowed in signatures. If your signature has one, please remove or replace it asap. Staff will remove them as and when we see them without notice.

Sincerest apologies to everyone for the recent blackout. VEF and several of our sister forums had a major server malfunction. The database index is being rebuilt from scratch and may take at least several days to be fully restored. Expect major weirdness and lots of glitches in the meantime. Thank you all for your patience and understanding.

Unfortunately it seems that all of the posts made from the 13th March until the crash are permanently lost, please feel free to re-post any such material, apologies for this.

I'm in the process of heading down this path for some VHS that's never been released on DVD that I'm in the process of acquiring. It's something that I may look to do long term in order to preserve some of this great material before it disappears forever. I figure there must be people in this place who already do this so I'm curious as to what others are doing to get the best transfers. Good VCRs are hard to come by these days, so I'm considering a significant investment over what I have now to ensure the highest quality transfers. Would love to hear back from others on what they're doing and/or suggestions.
