Here's another follow-up post in the 2012 Box that's probably better off in the [additional material] area.

Mod Edit:

Quick question:
Would it be ok, to request a photo shoot id here?
Thing is, there are 20 models on each of the images. Knowing the restriction here, I thought, I'd better ask
Or is there maybe another subforum, which might be suited better for this?
Could of course create separate threads for each model, 3 per day...

I'm not willing to open a can of worms by allowing this so the rule must remain in effect; one id request per thread and three request threads per day maximum. Send me the pic and I'll try to figure something out.

Default Box updates?

I trust the new MIR staff has acclimated themselves over the past months. Apart from a few nagging rule violations here and there, the transition has been smooth from the outside looking in. Well done guys.

That said, can we expect an update to the Mystery Box soon? It was always Exfarmer's biggest chore each month and the backlog only means a big job is even bigger, but it should be less daunting now that there's three of you. By my estimate, everything unsolved thru Aug of last year should be box bound, which will mean the creation of a new thread year (2014) and a corresponding change in point value for the previous years. I remember hos telling me once that the Box has grown far beyond what he expected but IMO it's still searchable and worth maintaining.

Additionally, a few weeks ago I went from page 313 in the main MIR area and worked my way backward spotting dupes and throwing in the occasional solve (you probably noticed older posts being bumped). One thing I saw were dozens upon dozens of perfectly acceptable solves that weren't marked as such. In fairness, many of these posts were made during the staff transitional phase so it's understandable if they were overlooked at the time. It doesn't have to be tackled all at once of course. I'd typically sift thru a month of posts in a couple of hours, and a good number are already marked solved.

Sorry if these points have been addressed publicly already, and I hope this doesn't come off as cracking a whip (for those of you who don't like that ).

It's good that they are solved... But I know what you mean, it's simply neater that way. Perhaps I am little biased because I like this relaxed functioning on this issue (which allows little more flow of discussion so we get more info and more transparent - at least to me - proofs of ID).

Off course - exfarmer has done great job here, with help of sweatyhat in last months, and still personally I simply like this new more basic style.

And I agree, more debate is a good approach. I only bring up the older ones because the solvers hadn't been awarded well-deserved points yet.

Rubinski has been slogging through all those old threads but there's a mountain of work there. Some of the members such as Immy, icu, and others have been helpful in bumping ones which should be marked as solved; keep up the good work.

I came close to discontinuing the Mystery Box because it's so much work to maintain. Now I've decided to keep it but it's low priority. I consider it a benefit but not a necessity. Not every request is MB worthy and this is part of the problem; every thread must be evaluated and either marked as solved, sent to the Mystery Box, or trashed. I'm trying to find ways to streamline this process and that's why I posted the notice about thread icons. Many of these threads can be flagged while they're current and this will save us the evaluation time at the back end. I currently spend 1-2 hours per day taking care of the daily routine and Rubi spends about the same on the back end. But this means we're just breaking even and it will require even more time to chip away at the backlog and take care of the Mystery Boxes. We're still maintaining the HOF counter thread so no info is lost but I can't say when it will be processed.

I would really like to have a dedicated Mod just to take care of the Mystery Boxes.

I'm glad to hear some of you like the more relaxed style. The structure was too rigid, I think especially when considering whether to mark a request solved when there is scant info available and the fact is many models just aren't listed in the major databases. No system is perfect and many of these are judgement calls but we'll do the best we can.

I would have done more trashing of the old requests, but I'm still learning.
MIR is not anything like the other sections, and there's lots of decisions to make along the way.
So, I've got a lot of burners going, and some are proving difficult to manage.

My first pass at the bottom was a training pass.
I left a lot for my next pass.
I intend to start at the bottom again soon.
On this pass, and will clean up a lot more, and set up some mystery boxes.

One of the problems I'm having on solved requests is what to do about the unposted content.

Many times, the content in the requests is not posted on the model thread, and I hate to just trash the content.
It belongs on their model thread.
So those also got a reprieve on my first pass at the bottom.

In the future, if you make a request for an ID that gets solved, and your content is not posted on her thread, please post it.

If anyone else sees content in a solved request that is not posted in the model thread, please post it for us.

Thanks.

There are also models that don't have a thread here.
Which ones of those need a thread?

I won't be starting many model threads personally.
Neither will MIR.
I/we keep hoping someone will start them for us.

On some of the longer solved request threads, with lots of content, we intend to set up a few as Pending Model Threads, which should eventually get moved into the Model sections.
Still working on a process for that.

In the meantime, feel free to start threads for any you feel appropriate.
Follow the rules for that section.

If you have a model thread to suggest, feel free to ask.

Another thing I'm seeing is solved requests that appear to have threads here, but weren't linked into the request thread.
Some seem to be the right girl, and some don't.
Should I add the link?

Which is to say, in addition to any proof you would normally add, if your answer has a model thread here, please link it in too.

Any thread links that get added by other interested members would also be welcome.

Pleas let us know if the content is not posted there.

If you know the thread isn't for that girl, that info would be nice to see too.

Thanks for any help on anything you can help on.

If I'd known the older clean-up was your assignment Ruby, I wouldn't have mentioned it. As the new MIR mod on the block there's understandably a learning curve.

Here's how Ex did it:

a) was new thread creation for solved MIR content from models without an existing thread.

b) was for solved MIR content from models with an existing thread.

...followed by the the Unfolded's for the month, though his stylized layout is optional.

I think that was part B was part of Ex's monthly clean-up, but if it's easier for us to do it, no problem.

Again, that (I believe) was what Ex did each month (part A above). But if there's sufficient content to start a thread, I'm sure the MIR regulars won't mind tackling that.

Here's where some clarity would help. When can a model can be suggested for a new thread, and when is it meant for the Pending area?

I say get brutal with the "no proof, no credit" rule...

MIR Has always been a tremendouns group effort. There's some startling observant and efficient people here and the Team clearly reflects that.
