Mediafire is the only site I know of that has long term free storage although their fireupload size is limited.

You have to watch out with Mediafire... if you upload too much stuff there, they'll wipe out your account... as they did to me and others I know

Now I'm not sure what you're referring to as "long term", but media
fire doesn't host anything any longer than any other file hosts might
if there's no downloads of the file, from what I read. A file can be
hosted on virtually any file host indefinitely if there's consistent downloads
of it. That's how some files on RS have been up for years. As long as
any files on basically any file host are downloaded at least once every
30-90 days, depending on the file host, they'll remain stored there at that
file host. If not......they will be deleted, no matter who the host is, without
a premium account. Now with MF, it does appear that one might bypass
that period between downloads by just signing into your account, but their
wording leaves almost any account open to their discretion to delete what
they want.

MediaFire is designed to be used as a File Sharing service, not as a data 
warehousing service.There isn’t a time limit on how long files will be stored, 
but  MediaFire Free accounts have an activity requirement.  The user 
needs  either to log into his account or his files need to be downloaded on 
a  regular basis to avoid file deletion.  In addition, the Free account  must 
not give the appearance of data warehousing (storing huge amounts  of 
files without significant download activity).

I saw this one mentioned on another forum I frequent and the people their tested it for a few weeks and it was very spotty...many files simply got rejected after uploading almost instantly

Some had more luck but my feeling is they mention no porn in their FAQ
so if any one file becomes overly popular its sure to get unwanted attention eventually

I'd view it as a short term sharing facility if you can get past the initial scrutiny




Smartest thing anyone can do is spread the content around if possible and avoid those hosts that are supposebly using scanning technology during uploading and given past and present performance those paying cash rewards.

Speaking of which I believe Rapidgator has returned from the dead though many files will still appear as dead until servers are fully restored - if you hide your IP address apparently their all accessible



Most filehosts now are becoming ultra vigilant...the days of an Oron rejecting your cash request while leaving your uploads up and thanking you for it are probably done and dusted if a DMCA request is actually received.

I downloaded 23 episodes x 350mb of a TV series recently and the entire lot were deleted within a week on Mediafire...wasnt a popular series but it shows their vigilance

Personally I think its probably about time a few of the heavy uploaders started their own UPLOAD Filehost premium help thread so the sort of useful factual info isnt lost in the filehost downloader / free user complaint threads.

The biggest thing for mine missing in almost every post is very few mention where their based,what ISP their using,wether their premium or a free user etc etc.

Just like the question of which filehost is best will be the one that meets your needs
so if you dont specifically say how your going to be using it what chance of a useful answer?

Not much point someone in America,Asia,the Middle East or Australasia advising someone in the UK what to use when from everything I've read and heard about filehosts says performance good,bad or ugly is very regional in general terms.

Guys that is very good advice, however I have since learned there are multi-file host sites out there the likes of as an example zevera(dot)com or multihosters(dot)com, are these worth considering?

Naturally I would rather pay for one premium service than half a dozen individual host.

Has anyone used these types of multi file hosting sites before?

Just wondering if anyone's got experience with ******* as a host? I recently found a thread with lots of *******-hosted stuff on it and I'm having a great time DLing it all. You have to wait 30 mins after each DL, but it works fine for free users and I'm getting good DL speeds (much faster than RS) so it's making me wonder what they're like for uploading and hosting stuff? I'm still using RS, as a host but they are getting on my nerves. Ok, I know I'm getting it for free, but every week my inbox fills up with emails titled "Attention! Your files will be deleted!", and I am constantly having to DL files to prevent them from being deleted. Feel like a dog chasing its tail.
Also wanted to mention another recent-ish change which is that I can now DL stuff for free from Oron. Six months ago this was impossible for me - anytime I saw something hosted on Oron that I really wanted I had to go buy a month's premium user's account. When Paypal dropped Oron I nearly gave up on Oron-hosted stuff completely (and some sites have got a LOT of Oron-hosted content) 'cos I didn't want to pay over the phone with a credit card. But a couple of weeks ago I tried to DL a vid clip from Oron without a premium account and it worked! OK, there's that still that stupid wait for 60 seconds thing and then you have to hang on for half an hour or maybe longer after each DL, but it works. Up until then I never once managed to get a free DL out of Oron, and some days I tried quite hard. Something has changed there.

Right - I didn't realise that the particular filehost I was enquiring about was going to be converted to ******* - and I had looked at the list of banned sites and filehosts before posting as well. Must be my eyesight.

I've decided to purchase a 90 days premium package with mydownloader, so far it has definitely been worth its weight in gold, I now have access to 23 file hosts, time will tell if this will last. I believe as a free user they offer 1GB free download, definitely worth considering.

I just canceled my Rapidshare account. They have made a change to their site and the files that I had uploaded to their site were no longer available for public download. I just decided it wasn't worth it to continue using their site. They seem to be making it more difficult to use for downloading. I am trying to decide which filehosting website is the best to use for a free account. I don't plan on uploading very many files, so I would like to use a free account if possible. Anyone know which filehosting site is the best for having a
free account?

Which host depends on numerous factors not least being where your based

Size of files the next as many hosts seem to be capping the maximum size at around 200mb-400mb

Zippyshare seems to be a decent non-premium free host which is bucking the slow download speeds

Mediafire - though much maligned by those with large accounts that were deleted enmass isnt a bad bet for small accounts made up of single link files - as long as you never include any sexual words anywhere you can largely go unnoticed - depending on the material of course

I had a sub for a while but then more and more often you couldn't access certain of the more popular hosts. I gave up with it in the end....
