Regardless of popular opinion currently orbiting her viability as a candidate, regardless of the cable news punditry's assessment of her odds at attaining the Democratic nomination, maverick outlier candidate Marianne Williamson boldly spoke truth to power while she was up on that debate stage in Detroit last night. Clearly, powerfully, and concisely she undauntedly outlined the malevolent effects of the age-old systemic problems that have consistently prevented the needful progress that our country must experience in order to realize the promise of what authentic democracy can create within our existence as a nation. Good on ya', Marianne. Cùm a ’sabaid ris an t-sabaid mhath.

I can't believe I did it but I taped and watched the D debate. My reaction is that I heard a lot of proposals that will, IMO, raise taxes and not do diddly for me, myself, and I.
Also it seemed to me that most were trying to buy Hispanic votes with the immigration policies and the black voter with reparations.
Now before those that are now outraged by my comments respond, remember I am neither a D or R but an independent. Oh and yes I am a whiter male.

More like they are trying to play makeup. The Latinos realized a lot of stuff that Trump is doing are just extensions of what the Democrats enacted both Clinton and Obama and on the African American side of things they understand that Obama's handling of the housing crisis lead to the biggest loss of black wealth in US history and if you remember back to the last election both of those groups did not come out like they did in the past so yeah they have to mend fences.

I like where I am health plan and care wise and after Obama's lie about keeping my plan and doctor I personally believe I will get screwed some how. Especially in a Medicare for all and no private plans allowed system.

How do you otherwise leave the Court if you don't retire? Do we convince them to drop dead? That might work with RBG. She's standing a lot closer to the edge than those two guys are.

The US Supreme Court is living proof that only the good die young.

A good question, considering.

First, cicciobuki, all American political discussion is conducted in code, not clear to anyone else, let alone most Americans. "Medicare for all" is code for one of two programs. Bernie Sanders means something very similar to the British National Health. Elizabeth Warren seems to mean something very similar to the Canadian system, which is like the British National Health, but with a private insurance add-on. It gets especially confusing when anyone refers to the principal "Medicare for All" bill in the House of Representatives, which is simply a re-write of the Public Option provisions of the original Affordable Care Act which was a buy-in version. That is, one could have private insurance or buy into a program similar to Medicare.

If that isn't confusing enough, we all know that any program is subject to extensive modification by Congress. Despite Trump's claims, presidents do not rule by decree.

As Warren has implied, the discussion is really about direction more than immediate goals. Do we want to head toward a universal national health program, or not? If not, do we want to repair the Affordable Care Act, or keep the chaotic system we have now which serves no one (except Santee Fats) well?

By the way, Medicare is a National Health system now limited to those of us over 65, and is mandatory. That was passed with little opposition because private insurance companies were losing money insuring us geezers.

For a lot of the candidates it is but good ol' Bernie and a couple of others want it all as Medicare and no private at all. Of course those that want to get rid of the privates don't say what will happen to the tens of thousands of employees that will then be unemployed.
