We will include a year's supply of cleaners and disinfectants, plus a geriatric golfer spray painted orange to any nation willing to adopt the Garden State.

I am told that the portion of New Jersey that has not been industrialized contains much natural beauty and is quite nice. The entire region does suffer from an abundance of icy slush in winter.

Ummm, let's see now. I believe that I have made it known more that once that I happen to be an original born and raised Jersey girl and I still live here.

If you judge this entire state by what you see traveling the "Black Dragon" aka the Jersey Turnpike, you will only see a small portion of this state where the highest percentage of residents reside because of the proximity to NYC and shipping ports.

I live due west of NYC and even what is here will give you a different impression of this state as a whole. Someone I know from Nebraska traveled here by car one time and her biggest impression was that she had never seen so many trees and mountains before. We have working farms even where we are and if you travel further west, there are even a larger number of big farms still operating. This applies to large parts of central and southern west Jersey as well. You can also drive for quite a while before you even see a house or anything else while traveling some roads.

If you judge the Jersey Shore which is the common reference we use here for going to the beach here by what you see on the show that showcases Seaside Heights which I have been to more times than I care to count, that is also not a true representation of a lot of the beaches we have here. I've been to a lot of other shore towns and beaches that are totally in a different class than that one town.

By the way, when we have gotten a real snowstorm from a Nor'easter that bombs out off the coast, the entire state could be digging out from multiple feet of snow not slush. Been there done that too much in my lifetime and we also have ski resorts that operate here every winter.

Perceptions that are presumed by any non resident of a state who hasn't lived there tend to be totally off base in most cases and that is definitely the case here.

Thank you for that information. My ex-wife lived in New Jersey for several years and pretty much told me the same thing. Similarly, New York City is not the totality of New York state.

I didn't know about the ski resorts and mountains, but the ex did complain about the slush. It is much like the Ohio girl who complained about the icy slush there, too. It seems that snow does not just disappear overnight.

Go west less than an hour from me and you can walk a portion of the Appalachian trail at the Delaware Water Gap which is the border between Jersey and PA. Our location along the Delaware River also happens to be the ideal location for canoeing, fishing and even swimming as well and it is the cleanest and most tranquil part of the river for the most part.

Ski resorts and lifts with trails are maybe under an hour from where we live and there are a crapload of them in PA right across the border in the Poconos which is an easy day trip.

Snow does not disappear overnight at all anywhere in this state the majority of the time. Even though it has not been as bad recently, we had a winter where it snowed an average of once a week with temperatures that usually were below freezing for about 2 months straight. The road salt stockpiles were frozen solid and they were literally chopping loads out of salt by hand for the trucks to use and after all of this they started to run low and had problems just trying to resupply.

End result was not seeing blacktop anywhere when you had to drive and driving highways that were like tunnels and you has to guess where the exit was.

If you want to know anything at all about New Jersey, ask and I will give you the facts. I've been pretty much everywhere you can go here. By the way if I decide to drive down to Cape May which is as far south as you can go and still be in the state, it takes us around 3 hours to get there on a light traffic day and we're not anywhere near the New York border. All things considered, Jersey is not a little munchkin state that is the same everywhere you happen to go.

Jersey people also have a history of making fun of stupid things in this state that deserve to be made fun of but remember, we live here and know first hand what deserves to be made fun of or criticized just like anyone who lives in another state in the US usually knows the same things for the most part.
