It's simple fun but picking up a few sycamore seeds and throwing them up,into the air, and watching them helicopter down to the ground seems to me to be a lost memory of childhood. I don't think children are taught these things anymore let alone being allowed to play conkers without fear of getting hit in the face. In an age of electronic games and appliances like smartphones it seems simple things like that are slowly dying out...that's the price you pay for progress. I shall continue to educate the youngsters I know because it needs to be carried on by a new generation. It's a lot cooler today and breezier which has an effect on the trees shedding the afore-mentioned seeds but I am afraid this year Summer was so hot and dry, no conkers were worth collecting being too small and the World Conker Championships have asked teams to bring their own from other countries like Germany.

One of the questions reads: "Do you seek to engage in or have you ever engaged in terrorist activities, espionage, sabotage, or genocide?"

Seriously what sort of a deranged tosspot could have decided on having such a retarded question, would a terrorist, spy, saboteur, genocidal maniac or Russian architecture student

So, this clearly very smart university professor who undertakes extremely specialised psychology research attends a Senate Hearing and presents herself as some kind of weak abused and clearly upset housewife who is just lucky enough to have an almost crystal clear memory of events on a day in 1984 when she was apparently touched up at a party by someone who would eventually become quite important. Should I believe any of this? Maybe something did happen to her, who knows, but the timing of this revelation is certainly very interesting.

Minor correction, the alleged incident was in 1982.

I don't see the timing as weird.

Imagine you were young and someone with a specific name (let's say XYZ) insisted on fondling your willy against your.. eh.. will.

Later you separated ways and lose contact. Then years later the name pops up again when this XYZ person is being considered for a high ranking position.

At that point stuff comes up again and you may (or may not) decide to speak out. And you know you'll be talking a lot of flak if you do.

I know i'm taking the unpopular side in this case, but i can see her case as credible, at the very least.

Why?

because in the past year or two there have been a lot of people 'found guilty' just because of the number of 'historical abuse' allegations against them, makes you think that anyone who is also accused must be guilty?

Not at all. Like i said it is a hunch feeling about this particular guy (judging ffrom the bit i have seen about these hearings and his reactions). And that includes the possibility that i might be wrong, i realize that.

As for why, i think his answers and the ways he reacted to questions formed my opinion of him.

Time will tell if i can trust my gut feeling.

But aren't all these people that condemn that woman as bad and subjective as i am now?

I don't know Ford. I do know several women who appear normal but are batshit crazy. One was interviewed on National news and appeared reasonable, but everyone who ever worked with her knew better. The other showed me a police report she filed where she wanted her neighbor investigated because she claimed that he knocked two leaves off a potted plant she had on her porch. Crazy people can appear quite normal for short periods of time.

The clerks who worked for Kavanaugh - I would rely on their opinion more than the 36 year old memories of a 15 year old drinking beer - and they stand by their judge.

So in a "He said, She said" - from 36 years ago - who would/should make a decision - any decision - based on that - ?
