Be careful, comrade, I tried to sound smart with the word "recalcitrant" once, and almost wound up in the Gulag.

It was when I said that those wrongthinking Victoria's Secret girls sang along to a rap song that had the "N-word" in it, and I said that their "recalcitrant beavers" should be paraded over the internet as punishment.

Well, I hope you're also enjoying the company of miss Anya Sveltonya.

Oh, and in your cross-country trip, remember, country is spelled with an "o".

Some of you may be surprised to hear that I'm enjoying some bourbon and apple juice tonight.
Then again, some of you may not be so surprised.

Unhappy Another day , still sans booze and bright non-bloodshot eyed - Sigh -

That`s despite blearily stumbling out of V.E.F towers (Norwich North District) earlier today and discovering they built overnight (Well could there be another explanation ) an already decrepit multi story car park across the road

Ok I say overnight.

In truth this is the first day in a myriad of decades I've been sober enough to be aware of my surroundings

Butt still

Well done, MaxJoker! I wish you all success.
Myself, I wake up, if not bright-eyed every day, but not with bloodshot eyes. I have very little choice but to be aware of my surroundings, otherwise I'd be injured or worse in short order. My days often involve working at heights (not insane heights, just 10-35 feet, still enough to do harm), or crawling on my belly with a jack or reciprocating saw or shovel in my hands, under a cottage or deck, without enough room to roll over, and barely enough room to use the tool, bathing my eyes in the soothing sawdust, etc.
Thus, when I get home, I drink.
Today I think I'll have...bourbon and apple juice.

@Everyone: Thanks for tales of your boozing and whoring exploits in this thread.

And now for something completely different: a non-alcoholic beverage that can be addicting. Anyone here ever tried Starbucks instant iced coffee?

I have become virtually addicted to their Via Vanilla flavor, which for some reason is now extremely hard to find in Starbucks stores and my local Meijer and Kroger stores.

So now I have been able to order some on eBay: I paid $60 USD for 30 servings of the Via Vanilla, or about $2.00 per iced coffee. It's not quite as expensive as buying an iced coffee made by a barista in a Starbucks store, but it's close. The extravagant expense of $60 USD, I would justify by saying Via Vanilla is by far my favorite cold Starbucks drink.

I suppose that Starbucks and Arizona Iced Tea are going to replace beer and soda now that I've had gastric sleeve surgery, and can no longer drink beer or soda without seriously risking internal injury...

Today's drink is from Germany: Bamberger Mahr's Brau Christmas Bock. Only available in winter. Comes in two varieties. A copper colored and a straw yellow colored beer. When poured produces a moderate head. Alcohol content 6.0%. Tastes of very sweet malt and a breadiness. No hop bitterness. Does not explain on bottle why it is called a "Christmas Bock". Just good overall.

Perhaps low-acid apple juice mixed with say, bourbon, would work.
Works for me, and I was diagnosed with Crohn's disease, which, strangely enough, disappeared once I quit the whole corporate IT thing and became a carpenter.

Not that I'm against dropping acid, mind you.
