Reading the Cynthia Myers threads, I don't see how PB got away with bringing a 17-year old girl to Chicago and photographing her naked. Unless I'm reading it wrong, her pictorial was taken when she was 17 years old. Underage. The threads also show PB started corresponding with her when she was 15. To me that's pretty damn creepy. I guess it was different back in the late 60s.

Really? I would argue that many other western nations are more tolerant and less racist, oppressive, and discriminatory that the United States currently is.

Agree on the awesomeness of Marilyn. She's my pick as best PM ever.

They have picked a lot of PMOYs I disagreed with. I do think that Candy Loving, Karen Velez and Donna Edmondson were worthy.

Yes, not bad. I liked Justine Greiner and Patty Duffek more than Karen Velez in '84, and yeah, Donna Edmonston was probably the best in a not a great year. Candy Loving SHOULD have been PMoY, but was not - Dorothy Stratton was. I think she was the 25th Anniversary Playmate.

Candy and Dorothy were both discovered during the 25th Anniversary Playmate Hunt. The story goes that the choice came down to the two of them. Candy was a communications major in college at the time so Playboy thought she could handle the press coverage of being 25th Anni Playmate (a much bigger deal at the time) better than Dorothy, so Hef promised her PMoY instead.

And some say that Donna Edmundson got PMOY because she said she was a born-again Christian - right at the time Hef and PB and porn in general were under fire by the Religious Right. So the theory is that Hef gave it to her to stick it to the Religious Right. Maybe, but she definitely had a PMOY body.
