Sure hope not, after Google hobbled their reverse image search Yandex has been my go to for that.

I immediately checked after reading your post, that toggle option is now gone for me too.

Checking results with some filthy searches & it does not seem to be holding back.

Perhaps they just got rid of the option to keep it family safe, rather than removing the ability to adult search?

As to the reverse image searching, I've only briefly checked but still seems effective. Fingers crossed they don't break it like Google did.

I even used it earlier today to reverse search & didn't notice a difference.

On a side note, another effective reverse image search that has proven very good at facial recognition is (don't laugh) Bing!

I know Bing is a frequent brunt of jokes, mainly due to Microsoft trying to force it on people, but their facial reverse image search has really become very good. I'd actually say it's the best for straight facial recognition searches.

One caveat, Bing reverse image searches seem best for non adult material searching. So standard celebs rather than adult material searching. For that Yandex is usually best.

I just checked the image search function & indeed the filter is missing

As an inveterate MIR-er, I immediately noticed it as well

Strange.

Or instead something politically driven?

Like, perhaps, the authorities attempting to shore up a more deep scrutiny of Russian internet user's data?

VK?

And the endless (albeit generally fallow) Russian sites that make up Yandex's roughshod and rugged 'Wild East' eTerrain of sources and sites?

More often than not (regarding challenging ID requests) their results comprise of clickbait rabbit-holes, bogus escort profiles and/or dead links, etc, but generally, it's an uncannily brilliant reverse-image resource.

Nothing else, IMO, comes even vaguely close.

PS - as PMG states at the top of the page, since Google's RSI function had its bollocks corporately inverted dramatically (a long time ago now it seems), YNDX really filled - and filled up to a point of repletion - that gap.

TinEye is near-useless as well.

YNDX - if indeed this is its new watered-down guise - has helped me make at least one definite ID today, but I concur - it seems hobbled in many respects.

I just conducted an experiment using two Model Identification Requests that I helped solve within the last few days.

In each instance, I ran the "mystery" picture through the new version of yandex, and did not get the links that had previously led me to the solution.

This is disturbing, because in both instances, the search I conducted using the old version of yandex had led me directly to posts at VEF.

Something has certainly changed . . . . and not for the better.

That is definitely unfortunate, because I had it up this morning and the filter was there, so they must've taken it off just THIS afternoon.

I think the best way to make sure that it stays as the same is go to the settings on the web section of Yandex and make sure that the "No filter" button on the search settings is on.

But besides that, let's hope that it doesn't get any worse than what we got right now.

Default Login necessary?

Does anyone have an account? Does the filter display if the user logs in? Also, does anyone have any cached searches in their history? Perhaps the filter parameter can be manually inserted into the URL to force the adult search.

Yandex is based in Moscow and Russia is trying to keep their people from the net as much as possible right now as far as I know. That could be at least part of the problem. OR NOT.

The filter shows up now in settings on mobile, haven't looked on pc yet

Just threw it a double anal gonzo pic to play with and it's certainly not filtering results
