England couldn't win a thing. Too many pound notes involved.

We need to get back to basics and employ people who want to play football, not for the money but because they WANT to play. They should think themselves lucky the country wants them to play let alone pay them as well. our country is represented by a band of overpaid pooftas who should be paid purely on results.

in sports where we do well, weightlifting and the martial arts for example, we win world championships on a regular basis but they don't get paid, they do it for the love of it, and it shows in the sheer dedication and commitment they put in.

Took the day off and went to see a few friends, but spent most of my time dodging potholes! The freezing weather seems to have played havoc with the road surfaces (mainly the ones which weren't gritted) so I'm expecting loads of TV ads telling everyone how to sue their local councils!

Just been out in the car, the outside temp is +5.5c...time to get our shorts out guys.

...what is really odd though is how eerily dark it is outside. I have just driven to Castleford with my full headlights on at 2-00 in the afternoon, spooky!

Came home yesterday evening and the pavemets and side roads were full of ice,only the main roads were clear. Today, after a night of rain, all is clear, and I can get the car out of my close for the first time in a couple of weeks, so I can restock my freezer - only have one (unlike Tabs) - hopefully can get back to normal.

Plus, and it is a plus given my previous experiences, no burst pipes for me (up to now, don't want to tempt fate)!

Schadenfreude is the truest emotion and is never faked! You can hide it, but when you show it, it's sincere!

The high point of my week - at least in the news - was listening to Obama stick it to the banks. And I love the way he calls them "fat cats" and publicly derides them!

The trouble was, he didn't go far enough. But even so, here is a man with the right attitude!
