Default Any website designers on here?

I would appreciate some help with suggestions as to some good website design software.

I have been designing my own sites for about 5 or 6 years. I have used Serif on PCs (now discontinued) and also Sparkle on a Mac.

Both have limits in terms of usability. Okay, I have tried Adobe Dreamweaver, but it was a very old copy on a disc and wasn’t very easy to use, back then. Now it seems it’s only available in a ‘Cloud’ version and I really don’t want to pay £20 a month to use it since I would prefer to buy a software package outright.

Can anyone suggest a good alternative. I guess I’m looking at functionality not quite as good as the current Dreamweaver, but better than Serif and Sparkle.

I’m not looking for a free download from anywhere and I’m prepared to pay a reasonable amount from a reputable company, if someone can suggest a good package.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Jeff

Expression Web is now available for free, if can use the apps in 0ffice you will be fine. Personally I prefer hard coding so I use Notepad++ and Filezilla.

Hope this helps.

Wordpress and premade template or Wix. Doing a website from scratch makes no sense anymore in 2019. Even webdevelopers working for big companies use frameworks.

Thank you. Yes, I've tried both of those. Wordpress seems to rate fairly highly on Google search, but Wix doesn't, no matter how often I add content. But, you are right, it does seem that doing all the work to design from scratch may not be necessary any more.

Thanks for your help.

A valid point however I manage a website for a local charity. As a volunteer I have no budget but no time constraints.

Sometimes the old ways still work in the right circumstances.
