I agree with you 100%. I hate the ever-loving shit out of them.
I *always* ignore them when they talk to me. In L.A. (where I live) the problem is god awful. I remember a particular incident that occurred when I attended an autograph convention that was near LAX. They host it every few months, and I'm almost *always* nagged by at least one homeless moron when I go there. A dude with white hair ran up behind me when I was carrying a huge load of posters and memorabilia that I got signed to my car. I wasn't in the mood to even pause for anyone-- I just wanted to unload that burden in my car. Him (very cheerily) "HELLO! I'm a homeless vet. I was in the Vietnam War. I could use whatever you could spare for me blah blah blahb lahblahblahblahblah." I just ignored him. him (his tone doing a complete 180) "WELL, FUCK YOU. SELFISH BASTARD! I HOPE YOU DIE OF CANCER! DIE OF CANCER, YOU SELFISH ASSHOLE!" Yeah.... I feel really bad that I didn't give money to you, you malicious, parasitic piece of shit. I had only read about that exact thing happening to Jerry Lewis when he said hello to a woman then refused to speak to her daughter on a payphone because he needed to rush someplace. Her tone changed completely from happy to, "DIE OF CANCER!" (which is recreated in "King of Comedy"). Anyway, fuck 'em. |

https://www.sfgate.com/bayarea/artic...c-13034136.php The Bay Area has been woefully derelict in constructing affordable housing for the working poor with the result that middle class workers are paying premium prices for borderline slum housing. We also have an army of unsightly and belligerent people squatting in public places. Frankly, I would have no problem passing out high grade synthetic opioids to quickly remove the most dangerous and intransigent criminal element from the campers. The United Nations has every right to call out a nation with 40% of the world's wealth and 20% of annual global GDP to distribute over 5% of the human population doing such a spectacularly poor job of running the country. So, if we are going to kill the homeless, and terrorize refugees at our border, you will not find me arguing against doing horrible things to rich people until they share enough of the wealth that life doesn't suck so much for the rest of us. |

When I think of the term low-income housing I am reminded of "The Pink Palace".
https://www.nytimes.com/1981/07/30/u...s-project.html You waste the taxpayer's money on housing projects that get turned into crap in a minimum of years. Building low income housing means ready made slums, high crime areas and destitute parts of town. No one wants to be near them. No one on the private side is stupid enough to invest in them. |

SF’s spiraling homelessness and opioid crisis is starting to drive away business and tourists, and a $40million medical convention has cancelled after its attendees complained they were too scared to walk the streets alone.

I was on a brief Holiday in Edinburgh , and got the time to walk more streets than I normally would have , strolling around Shops and Restaurants , and I noticed there is a lot more ' Genuine ' Homeless and also ' Professional Foreign Beggars ' - than there ever used to be , seriously , you only saw a couple in Princes Street ( like Main Street in New York or Oxford Street in London ) in the old days and they were real beggars - now you are never sure if they are totally genuine
( the ones you see at 6.30am - surely are ) - no doubt about it - every Street Corner now has a beggar in Edinburgh Centre . |

This law is still applicable today. I was surprised to listen Trump explaining that your vets are not very well treated when they come back home. Isn't it totally dishonest? Quote:
In the biggest Swiss cities since 10 years we get a lot of these beggars. In fact we have Black African drug dealers and Romanian beggars. There are no social plans for them in the European countries. It's a disgrace. We can see fat unhealthy men bringing very early on the pavement old grandmothers, young children or handicapped people to beg. That's the responsibility of our European governments to give education to their children. We don't get the right to let these children to become making-money tools for their parents. Governments have to do their jobs. If they don't, we don't need them. I do remember French President Sarkozy wanting to send them back to Romania. There was a TV report about a French priest who daily was teaching to these children and had very strong words against Sarkozy. During this report, the journalist asked questions to several children and one of them answered that he liked school and wanted to stay in France. The priest said that this child was brilliant. So these children often are prisoners of a culture that is not welcome in our modern societies. |

BUT Screw the UN! They have absolutely NO right being critical of anything. Because of their antiquated structure the UN has shown itself to be out of touch for years. The best they can seem to do is, "Strongly condemn" horrific, government sanctioned abuses of human rights as well as those which support terrorism while sucking up a hugely disproportionate amount of money from the u.S. as well as other "Developed" countries. The most asinine thing about the UN is the security council with it's permanent members and the veto power each one has. The founders had no foresight of the world changing so as the wealth, power and threats posed by various nations changes throughout history, the members of the security council are destined to remain the same...forever. Yeh they suck! |

The VA hospitals meant to provide care for veterans are also a mess. Years ago I remember hearing that a friend of a friend went to the VA for some routine procedure and he ended up dying from a flesh-eating strep infection. Stay out of those places. Enlisted people in our military are generally regarded as losers, people who cannot succeed in normal society, getting an education and what have you. Base pay for these people is roughly equivalent to minimum wages, and they work a lot harder and take more risks than some guy working at McDonalds. If they stay in, a lot of them are weeded out with bureaucratic bullshit a couple of years before they are eligible for pensions, so they have given their best years and then are kicked out into the street with nothing. People who are injured are forced out with an inadequate disability check, and forced to go to VA hospitals for treatment, since they can't afford their own health insurance. See my remarks on those places above. In a nutshell, they are no longer treated as conquering heroes, as the WWII generation was, but simply as people who are a necessary expense, and being that, should have as little money spent on them as possible, so there is more money for fighter planes that cost 125 million dollars apiece.
