Makes them stupid for wasting their vote then and makes any comments later complaining about a Government non valid and if they didn't like any particular candidates then there is no reason they cannot run as an independent , and here sometimes it's the independents that actually hold power when the amount of seats held by the Government and Opposition is small, like the case in my country right now, there's a majority of only 1 seat.

They are not stupid. They maybe think that all the comedies made by politicians are bullshits.
They also maybe think that the notion of nation is the worst crap ever.
Probably voters are more stupid than "blankers".

BTW... I'm a voter.
Aren't we both sheeps?

What's bullshit is that millions have died in wars fought to gain a right to vote, there's still places on the planet where people would love to have a fair vote ...... but in todays fucked up, soft, politically correct, easier than ever to live world there are people who snub that right and then have the actual nerve to complain True, many politicians are inept, but if one cares enough, you'll find a candidate most suitable for you though without doubt far from perfect.

I don't call then abstainers, that's a nice way of putting it ....I'll put it in it's simplest terms and what they actually are ........ lazy, careless, irresponsible, selfish and brain dead

In a democracy, the people who have lost, are under a form of dictatorship.
Ask the British miners how they liked to be runned by a witch called Thatcher, who sent the police to dictate her arbitrary view of life.

Vive l'Anarchie!

But why do they abstain ?
Don't they abstain because they do not recognise themselves in any kind of models of society that are proposed to them.

.
I do find that a bit offensive, there were a lot more issues involved in the miners strike, if you actually had spent anytime in Yorkshire, one of the most affected areas during both the strike and its aftermath, you would find that it is a very close run thing between dislike of Margaret Thatcher and Arthur Scargill, the miners union leader.

About 15 years ago, I had to spend for my job one week in a small city near Birmingham.
I spent several days with a 35 years old man, who worked as freelance programmer. A very nice person.
He was living in a "poor" area.
He told to me that Thatcher destroyed the quality of life of a lot of people of the British working class.
I remember that looking "teddy bear" guy get his eyes filled with hatred when speaking about this woman.

You would meet a lot of people with exactly the opposite view! I am not a Thatcherite, but she inherited a country with massive inflation, out of control trade unions, who were perceived by many as blatantly far left, and opposed to any changes or modernisation of work practice.

There were also left wing councils, introducing ridiculous policies and appointing friends to £35 thousand a year part time jobs in the 1970s. The average wage being about 10k at the time!

Neil Kinnock, the Labour leader at the time made this speech, it is why Labour were unelectable!
