Wrong, again, for the 50th time across threads, never ever assume you know me and how I think I've said before, my votes swing between parties, no party master me, never have or will, fact is I've even voted independent in 2 state elections , didn't like either candidate for both major parties here and there's no way I'd gave voted for the minor parties, the independent in my electorate, though not perfect I liked ... seemed to really know the locals and actually lived there.

This isn't the Middle Ages,The Monarch has virtually no powers at all,Only in the event of a constitutional crisis can He/She intervene and even then He/She can only ask the Leader of the Opposition to try to form a government,In no circumstances can the Monarch take over.

In America, I can write myself in for all sorts of stuff. They may toss out my ballot under some circumstances, but in others, not. No one FORCES you to choose a candidate here.

Speaking from America, I have to say that the existence of a King or Queen in your government, neutered or not, makes us a wee bit uneasy. Under just the right circumstance is it not possible that the monarch might throw aside all those carefully considered constraints and rule with an iron hand once again? Perhaps if there were some sort of great national disaster or war, for example.

And regardless of her official powers, I will wager that the Queen still exercises a considerable amount of behind-the-scenes influence with members of government and the wealthy upper classes in the UK.

More first class Marxist idiocy I'm afraid

I didn't loudly claim I live in a free world, I said "it's a free world (where I am anyway)" Not it's a free world (where I am anyway)

I can travel wherever I want without some petty Commissar checking to see if that country is on our banned list. I can buy what I want when I want, our healthcare system is largely free although sections of it are in dire need of a kick financial and physical in many cases.
As for our Monarch well Lizzie as I call her over coffee and donuts does not rub those privileges in our faces.

Given the choice of a hereditary monarchy or Marxism, a failed system that produces dictators by the dozen, I'll stick to Liz & Phil, and this may shock your Lenin flavoured socks but I don't really mind if she has those privileges, it's part of the Monarch's role and I accept it .... go figure eh !!
