You forgot to include the Indians and Pakistanis. It is the Indians that contribute to the crickets popularity. It is surprising that the Aussies follow it. Seven hours seems an awfully long time for their attention span.

Cricket died in America with the advent of baseball. NFL football grew with the advent of television and the spread of ADHD.

Kevin here. Have to say this, though I know there will be recriminations. Cricket is only for degenerates. It is an obsolete sport(game). Americans love American football, baseball, hockey(in winter), golf(there are probably 10,000 public golf courses in the U.S.A.), basketball, water polo, and many other outdoor and indoor sports like bowling, pocket billiards, etc

hmmm.... when I was in Australia, my sister-in-law watched cricket all the time. She told me a game of cricket takes 5 years... sori, days. She also told me they wear padding & helmets because otherwise they'll get hurt -- look at this guy's legs. He even wears boxing gloves or something similar

This is an exaggeration. Mostly it takes 2.5 to 3 hours depending on how many freaking commercials are being shown. Attending games is interesting, because you watch the players standing around all ready to go, waiting for the referees to tell them the TV boys say it is OK to play again.
