Default UCSD Tritons run comes to an end...

Sorry to see it happen, they had gone through a lot of adversity to make it this far (their high ranking not withstanding...) Nice story about the other team's keeper, though.

UCSD women's soccer loses in PKs, falls short of Final Four

Quote:
There were tremendous backstories, twists and turns in UC San Diego’s national quarterfinal on Sunday in women’s soccer. The dramatic end was especially cruel for a senior and a freshman on the Tritons team.
After scoring in regulation to give a lead to UCSD that it couldn’t hold, senior Katie O’Laughlin had her attempt saved in the penalty-kick shootout, and freshman goalie Katie Wilkes made some tremendous saves, but ultimately couldn’t thwart the University of Colorado Colorado Springs enough.
UCSD was outscored 4-3 in penalty kicks after tying in regulation 1-1, and the Tritons’ season ended one victory short of reaching the NCAA Division II Final Four.
In being the first team to beat UCSD (17-3-2) at home in 14 games this year, UCCS kept alive a remarkable season under first-year head coach Sian Hudson. The Mountain Lions have gone from being 3-12-1 last year to 18-4 this season.

Definitely; his punditry has been superb; I miss Jimmy Armfield and sadly think he won't be returning. In the meantime, we have the likes of Phil Neville, who hasn't had an original thought in his life and couldn't express it if he had.

Just watching Australian Cup final, Sydney vs Adeleide.

Yellow cards are a joke, i'm sure it's been said many times,
It's about time a yellow card resulted in sitting out 10 mins, like other sports such as rugby, league, hockey.

This business of "taking one for the team", like a badge of honour, is farcical.
Consider Company's foul on Sat. He stops a good attacking move, possibly goal-scoring, but no real punishment. Possibly disadvantageous to the sinned against because he will be banned in the future against their rivals.
Give him 10 mins sitting out the game and he might still be reckless, but he definitely gets punished.

In a cup final, a yellow card is meaningless unless you get 2.

Sydney win 2-1 aet.

'It's A Ref Thing" ~ imo

No Ref wants to be the source of any criticism ~
~ most ESPECIALLY in a Final.

In Australia . Germany and the UK I've seen great bottles by a Ref that didn't want Notoriety or Criticism in a FINAL.

From my biased perspective.... it was Liverpool v Blues in the League Cup Final at Cardiff.
The Ref Bottled because Liverpool were Prem and we{Blues} 1st Div wannabes...

Then...we go to Germany and really/truly great outlandish Ref performances that tilted Championship and Cup Results.

Italy...have long had a series of corrupt Refs,,,,

Obscured a True League Table by corruption...led to many Clubs being relegated...

And so on....

EAT THE REFS....

Imagine the 2010 World Cup final if every yellow card meant 10 minutes off?

Maybe they wouldn't have committed fouls that warranted yellow cards if they knew it meant 10 mins in the sin bin.

Maybe for the Spanish, if there were any left? The Dutch still would've gone in full bore!

Monaco out of Europa.
Paris for a 5/5.
Lyon and Marseille should be ok tomorrow too.
Meanwhile, Setter gets a sweet retirement, waiting the W Cup in Qatar to start.
