Why 'Revenge of the Chargers Fans' is the best show in town

Oh, Chargers fans, you’re so cute when you’re mad.
And by “cute” I mean, “seriously hilarious.” With a generous side of “adorably snarky.”
I say this with the utmost respect and appreciation. Because as it turns out, one unexpected perk of the Chargers decamping to Los Angeles is the fun of watching disgruntled fans and former fans rip their team to yellow and blue shreds.

Debacle-fest that it was, Sunday’s overtime loss against the Jacksonville Jaguars was depressing in its familiarity. Blown lead? Check. Freakish penalties? Yup. Stellar performance by a Chargers player cut during the preseason? Present and accounted for, thanks to (now) Jacksonville kicker Josh Lambo.
But if the game was the usual epic Chargers fail, the social-media response was a different kind of business as usual.
As the team bumbled its way to its expected place at the back of the AFC pack, I monitored Twitter with a bowl of popcorn in my lap and admiration in my heart, knowing that the fans would once again elevate hate-watching (and sometimes hate-ignoring) their ex-team to high art.

Sorry about the Bears & not just because it was my lone loss for the week. I know that losing to the Packers always really hurts in Chicago. Somewhere George Halas and Curly Lambeau are still pounding on each other.
