Default Individual servers have a finite capacity - when thats reached we get rejected as I was yesterday on Imagebam server 21.

There are too many moving parts for there to be perfect service

You can determine that your browsers extensions / add-ons are/arent interfering with the hosts
easily enough in firefox - open browser in safe mode

Anyone whose been around for the past decade knows all imagehosts have been detiorating in performance because of the increased volume of uploading/downloading to/from them - not just us but 1000s of forums / blogs/ websites

The one thing you wont see is how many successful downloads are being made from a single server some of us cant access at that moment in time.

People will get locked out of individual servers because there is too much demand on it.

Filehosts have had this policy in place for years imagehosts are just catching up as the use of download managers increases

Some even banning / blocking individuals because of excessive bandwidth usage
on accounts (imagevenue)

Its not just hosts but 3rd party sites like Fuskator where excessive bandwidth consumption has gotten downloaders banned via their IP address

This appears to be those downloading massive amounts - site ripping in other words
Right after they banned the most recent the person banned started a DDOS attack and they closed down for several days - that type of behaviour will only mean there is less bandwidth for the rest of us

Its probably a lesson for any of us that downloading too much too quickly has a direct impact on a hosts accessibility not to mention viability

Ah, now, isn't it funny how resolutions can sometimes come from chance remarks. So thank you buttsie!!! You put me on the road to solving this vexatious problem.

Your mentioning IP address bans sparked a thought and a dropping penny. Was it my VPN causing the problem? My server of choice sometimes throws up issues with other sites, where Cloudflare or other verification services will demand I authenticate to prove I am not a robot. Sometimes it is a real PITA and I will have to swap servers to stop it.

It occurred to me perhaps IB was sensitive to that and that's the issue. Quite simply, it hates my spammy multi user VPN IP. So I switched to another server and clicked on an IB image and it immediately loaded. I went back to original server and tried another image from the same page - yep, no dice, again won't load.

So I tried a different server again (a third one) and a different image and it loaded straight away. Coincidence? Mmmmm, possibly but I think not. I'll crack on with some downloading whilst I can and repeat the experiment tomorrow to see if I can replicate the problem with the "bad" VPN server.

So to anyone else out there having IB problems and are using a VPN, look at that because it might be your issue.

And thanks also to halvar for the input. It was helpful to know I shouldn't have actually had a problem and I needed to keep looking at something my end.

As I clearly stated,it´s posts made between March 31 to May 11 that is affected, not posts made Sep 2 that you listed in your post.

There´s no problems with Imagbam in this particular manner except in the above timeframe, just so we´re clear about that.

I've come across countless IB servers outside that time frame that are still offline for periods but they are reducing

back on 8 July 17 on one day in one large post -

Imagebam servers that were not responding

9 , 10 , 13 , 21 , 53 , 57

Can be mere hours - with the 502 bad gateway message - to just loading on and on

2 days ago it was 21

Today its 69 & 81 from a handful of manual checks

Comeback in an hour , a day and they will most likely be working

ImageBam is now carrying the following text on the splash page so it looks like all problems may be over. Bizarrely it is ImageVenue which is playing up for me today, I just can't upload - maybe a temporary system overload?

ImageBam is a free service with more than 10 years of history, empowering people to upload, share and enjoy images online. Hosting millions of files requires massive resources and it simply became too big for our previous hosting platform to handle.

We are pleased to announce we have partnered with a new team that have extensive experience in large-scale hosting, our new gen hardware enables us to continue to provide the high standard of service that you are used to, while preparing us for many billions of files into the future.

The recent support from the community has been amazing.. Thank you, you rock! We will always be here for you and your files: Permanently, Reliably & Free!

Sincerely,
The Team

Pet peeve of the day - imagehosts who name all of the files the same ("image.jpg"). What a pain in the ass.

Pixhost has caused my Mac to crash multiple times today.
The screen starts to flash, and it's very hard to quit the page.
It also causes the other windows to become corrupted.

I checked with different browsers (Win7; adblock turned off) and I don't have anything close to this, just a regular pop ups.
