yeah, but in those Independence Day /War of the worlds/Earth vs the Flying Saucers style movies,the aliens pretty much make the same dogfood out of the US military as Godzilla makes out of the Japanese one, so I think the average alien invasion is pretty much across our best militaries b4 they even jump off for D-day..I think in the original War of the Worlds story, the relatively humble Turkish and Finnish armies were the only ones which began to hold their own against the saucer-walkers..which in some ways, would not surprise me.

If aliens attack Australia they won't use conventional weapons or typical sci-fi space weapons. They will do something even more horrible. They will genetically manipulate all the nasty critters you have so that they all will be giagantic in size and just as lethal. Giant 30 foot tall ants, 200 foot long salt -water crocodiles, 50 foot venomous spiders, 30 foot poisonous lizards, and blue assed flies as big as cars. Even the quokkas will be as big as elephants and run amok on Rottnest Island stomping everything in their path, crushing tourists and locals alike!. It will take the combined military forces of half the world to eradicate them. And you still have to contend with the aliens too!

....at which point the aliens discover-the hard way-about the scale effect-the ants and spiders collapse-because exoskeletons don't work in animals that big-and the legs won't support the weight-the 200ft crocs legs won't support them either as well as being too far apart....and all they can do is belly drag-the 30 foot lizards lie there panting.....and the blue arsed flies....don't...due to wing loading being off he scale [but make a REALLY annoying buzz...!....some enterprising locals harness them and drag them away to use as fans]

....at which point-the aliens by now being totally and publicly embarrassed-bugger off elsewhere.....perhaps to Chicago

You're forgetting one thing. Not only will the aliens use genetic manipulation to enlarge these creatures, but they will alter their cells and tissues at the molecular level so that they will be able to move with ease over the land. Even the blue arsed flies as big as cars will have a re-designed tissue structure that will allow them to fly. Humans don't have such technology, but a race of space faring aliens that could be thousands of years ahead of us in technology might.!

And I can tell you, you are also forgetting one thing. In every evil Alien Invaders film I've ever seen it is America that cops the brunt of their technologically advanced skulduggery. We are usually just the Sydney Opera House getting blown up about halfway through.
