Geez I tell you Fellow Forum Fellas , Sky customer support is about as helpful as a wet fart during a first date
Because of me misfiring Wi-Fi I've resorted to watching (Finally ) an actual DVD
I was lent some months ago (Hey when I return it I`ll also include a handful of Starbars plus a few bags of pickled onion flavoured Monster Munch as fair compensation ok ). There`s a sort of plot (Shan`t include spoilers ) involving a wrestler accidentally killing an opponent in the ring. Who`s brother invokes an utterly incomprehensible revenge. Provided you`re not expecting a film as believable as Herbie Goes Bananas you won't be disappointed. Is harmless enough horror fun though. Greatest thing about it being seeing the late great Roddy (RIP) Piper doing what he does best Whatever the hell (As for Rod it appears to be more off the cuff dialogue wise than scripted) he wants

Black Like Me (1964)
starring James Whitmore. a movie based on the book of the same name
by John Howard Griffin. in 1959, through drugs, skin dying, and sun lamp magic, Griffin transformed himself into passing off as a Black man. for 6 weeks he journied around the Deep South to see what segregation looked and felt like. an interesting story. but the movie version is very dated, and slightly comical, just because Whitmore looks like Al Jolson in "black-face". |

These are two of the Netflix films I saw in the past two days. The first one: Ouija: Origin of Evil is a minor horror film. Movie takes place in the home of a widowed mother and her two children. The mother uses a Ouija board and various hidden props to trick customers into thinking she is contacting their dead relatives to say things about them to give comfort to them for money. One day one of the daughters uses the Ouija board just for fun, but she accidently calls up some evil malevolent spirit that is living in the house. This spirit starts to terrorize the family. The house holds a secret that I won't reveal. The film was made on a low budget and made a considerable profit. It is not so scary, and uses digital effects for the scary scenes. The second film: The Accountant stars Ben Afflect who as a child was severely autistic, and had an obsessive -compulsive disorder but whose father was a military psychological warfare expert who home schools his two sons, the other son is not autistic, and teaches them survival skills such as martial arts and other military skills. When Affleck becomes a man he takes medication to control the symptoms of his OCD and the remnants of his childhood autism. He now has become a genius in business accounting math, and works independently for criminal organizations. He is an expert in the martial arts, and an expert marksman using a high powered sniper rifle. During his work he uncovers someone in one of the criminal business corporations has embezzled over 60 million dollars. Because of this he has now become a target and various groups try to kill him. He lives as a loner with no friends, and no girlfriends. Work is his only life. The film is rather complex, but interesting. I recommend it. |

Scum - 1979
SCUM tells the story of Carlin, a new reform school inmate with a reputation as a hard case. The authorities encourage gang leader Pongo to humble Carlin, but he beats Pongo down and takes over the mantle of Daddy. The guards institute a reign of terror and neglect, with Carlin emerging as an unlikely leader. A definitive classic from Uk cinema. Ray Winstone is stunning and this prison drama from acclaimed director Alan Clarke is a must-see. One of my favorite films. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0079871/

THE WALL
A soldier pinned down by a sniper after investigating the deaths of contractors building a pipeline in Iraq is the story in THE WALL. Mainly a one man show by Aaron Taylor-Johnson but also has a good brief performance from John Cena TW offers all the right tension and edge of your seat entertainment There are a couple of to convenient moments laced into the films 81 minutes but its a heavily entertaining film that leads to a gut punch of and ending. Scale of 1-10 an 8 King Arthur: Legend of the Sword I missed the mysticism that is part of the King Arthur legend. 2004's King Arthur was lukewarm at best and 1995's First Knight definitely captured the passion of King Arthur but where was the magic and the wonder? One of the good things about King Arthur: Legend of the Sword it brings all of the aforementioned back. This version features a snarky Arthur portrayed by Charlie Hunnam who is reluctant at first to claim his birthright as King and unthrone his sinister uncle Vortigern (Jude Law) Director Guy Ritchie's style works well with the medieval story for the most part. Most of the cast does a fine job. The film does feel rushed at times. Ritchie doesnt give the audience the chance to take in all the creatures and characters in the film.Sequences are so rushed it actually annoyed me. The CGI was a bit off at times and the climax mainly looked like a video game. King Arthur: Legend of the Sword is far from the B.S disaster some are calling it.With some tweaking here and there in all of it's rousing grandness it could have been great. Scale of 1-10 a 7½ SNATCHED This everything goes wrong on a foreign vacation comedy stays on a funny course for the most of it's running time as Mother and daughter (Goldie Hawn and Amy Schumer) embark on their trip that turns disatorous after a short while. Hawn and Schumer work fine together getting some good laughs here and there but its mainly the side characters Ike Barinholtz as a man child and Christopher Meloni as a Indiana Jones wannabe that steal the show The movie stalls at times and goes down some odd paths but definitely worth watching. Scale of 1-10 a 7½ |

I Am Not Your Negro - 2016
In 1979, James Baldwin wrote a letter to his literary agent describing his next project, Remember This House. The book was to be a revolutionary, personal account of the lives and successive assassinations of three of his close friends-Medgar Evers, Malcolm X and Martin Luther King, Jr. At the time of Baldwin's death in 1987, he left behind only thirty completed pages of his manuscript. Now, in his incendiary new documentary, master filmmaker Raoul Peck envisions the book James Baldwin never finished. An astonishing documentary about segregation in America, narrated by Samuel L Jackson and based on James Baldwin's works. A masterpiece. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt5804038/

Europa '51 (1952)
The representative of a big American company George Girard (Alexander Knox) and his wife Irene (Ingrid Bergman) are a wealthy couple living in post-war Rome. They're so preoccupied with their social status that their son Michele (Sandro Franchina) feels lonely and neglected. During one of the many parties hosted by the Girards, Michele attempts to kill himself. He is rushed to the hospital where the Girards are told by the doctors that their son will be alright. But Michele dies soon after from a blood clot. Irene falls into a deep depression, unable to leave her bed for 10 days. It is with the help of her Communist cousin Andrea Casatti (Ettore Giannini) that she begins to deal with her grief. He shows her the "other Rome", a city of the poor and unemployed and Irene begins to feel called to help, much to the chargin of her husband who is more concerned about his reputation than Irene. |
