Poll: Cigars? Pipe? Cigarettes? How do you most enjoy tobacco?
"Tobacco is my favorite vegetable." — Frank Zappa
I'm a cigar smoker and I enjoy smoking a pipe once in awhile. Note: I wanted to make this poll so that you could choose more than one option, but it didn't work out too well, so I decided to change the question to "how do you most enjoy tobacco?" I have an idea that I never would have liked tobacco anyway, but something my grandpa and granduncle did took care of that for me. When I was 6 years old, they gave me some chewing tobacco - it took a quart of pistachio nut ice cream to get the taste out of my mouth. My grandma chased them both off the front porch and wouldn't let them back for hours.... But I figure they did me a good turn in the long run.

When I was a teenager, I chewed tobacco. In our small town, only Red Man and Levi Garrett were available at the local store. I preferred Levi.
I chewed for three years. The summer that I was 16, I started chewing less and less of it: not in terms of frequency, but in terms of the amount I packed into my jaw. Finally, towards the end of the summer, I had taken to just pulling one leaf at a time out of the pouch and chewing that. One day I said to myself, "If I'm down to chewing a leaf at a time, what's the point?" and I stopped totally. I haven't chewed since.

I've been curious about pipe smoking for the past couple of years or so but the high cost of tobacco and the detrimental affect to my health have put me off taking the plunge.

I have never been a cigarette smoker but I did smoke a pipe for a little while about 35 years ago. That may have lasted about a year or so. I guess I got bored with it and stopped. I don't recall why exactly. There was a store at the mall called The Tinder Box that had some really good quality pipe tobaccos. Loved the smell of that place.

I have been a cigar smoker for about 35 years. At one time I tried smoking a pipe and enjoyed it for a while, but ended up gravitating back to stogies instead.
