ever sence i got windows 8 if i save a gif file it goes to internet exployer to view same thing happens with windows 7 is there something i need to download or click on in windows pics ??? any help would be great.

Same for Win7 & Win8:

Go to Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\Default Programs

and choose

Associate a file type or protocol with a program

There you can select the program to open the specific file type by default...

IrfanView would be a good choice for viewing these, as well as for other types of photos.
