502 and 504 Gateway errors - Page 25

HTTP Error 502 Bad gateway

A server (not necessarily a Web server) is acting as a gateway or proxy to fulfil the request by the client (e.g. your Web browser) to access the requested URL. This server has received an invalid response from an upstream server it accessed to fulfil the request.

This usually does not mean that the upstream server is down (no response to the gateway/proxy), but rather that the upstream server and the gateway/proxy do not agree on the protocol for exchanging data. However given that Internet protocols are quite clear, it often means that one, or even both the machines have been incorrectly or incompletely programmed.

Any client (e.g. your Web browser) goes through the following cycle when it communicates with the Web server:

(1) Obtain an IP address from the IP name of the site (the site URL without the leading 'http://'). This lookup (conversion of IP name to IP address) is provided by domain name servers (DNSs).
(2) Open an IP socket connection to that IP address.
(3) Write an HTTP data stream through that socket.
(4) Receive an HTTP data stream back from the Web server in response. This data stream contains status codes whose values are determined by the HTTP protocol. Parse this data stream for status codes and other useful information.

This error occurs in the final step above when the client receives an HTTP status code that it recognises as '502'.

My Web Colleagues said that this issue should be traceable .... that's unless its a sustained and persistent DDOS, but as we don't know and no ones telling I can only guess. I am only getting on very occasionally to the site ...

FYI, this has been a sustained and persistent DDoS..... there are issues now with high server loads when more and more members login.

No specifics on time frames, but they have been working crazy hours trying to get this fixed.

Had no problems yesterday but have been unable to login for the past two hours. However I used a different browser and managed to login but the pop ups are doing overtime.

Basically it seems one login and done for at least 12 hours or more no matter how many refreshes. Logged in and everything fast and perfect for about five minutes then shutout completely.

2am (now) got in again.

Feel bad for tech guys, hang in there.

hello first i wanna say ...thank you vef for giving us explicit wanking material.
we cannot help ourselves for being wankers but at least we honest about it.
lately i dont know hwat is happening with vef.....
it doesnt load anymore sometimes .....when i want to log in it doesnt load and when i finally get logged in it is slowly as heel .
i changed settings,i kileld off everything that eats internet still the same .
also when it loads to slow above the page you get this message:

Warning: file_get_contents(vbFooterLinks.html): failed to open stream: No such file or directory in [path]/global.php(1091) : eval()'d code on line 1

Having the exact same problem here, yesterday everything was fine for the first time in about 2 weeks, today it's gone to hell again.
