ISIS is based on a Wahhabi, a very, very, very conserativ (and wrong) interpretation of Islam, Sharia law and so on. And were are sitting the Wahhabi ?
BTW: The Salafi are one and the same, but outside of Saudi Arabia and not necessarily supporting that kingdom of Saud.

Who would want the job of a journalist in the Middle East?

The militant Islamic side already know what they want, a separate fundamentalist Islamic state and part of me is with them on that point but for entirely different reasons. They are likely to create an Islamic state that will go along the lines of Afghanistan under the Taliban where progress and modern development are frowned upon. Let them have their own land and once they are settled in we can ignore them and leave them to their own devices. Those young idealists travelling to the area as part of their personal jihad will soon learn that they are replacing what they currently see as a tyranny with an even worse one, and they should not be allowed back here under any circumstances.

Rather than seeking to use the press as a tool to get their views across they use the only idea they have in their entire ideology which is terror.

If I recall correctly, and I think I do, the vast majority of those involved with 9/11 were Saudi citizens. They aren't now, nor have they ever been our "allies". The house of Saud enjoys the hell out of our scratch to foot the bill for oil, but that's where it ends, and the proceeds go to fund terrorist organizations. Especially with this limp dick that currently resides at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.

Regardless of political leanings, I have the utmost respect for the journalists that put themselves in harm's way. Especially now. That job description requires large balls, and Foley possessed them. This was the second time that he was kidnapped. The first was in Libya in 2011. As far as the others held captive are concerned, nothing will be done. We've had a Marine, Sgt. Andrew Tahmooressi held in a Mexican jail since April for taking a wrong turn on the way to his next post, and this POS administration has done nothing!
I'm not a conspiracy theorist by any stretch, but with the WH/Pentagon coming out today, and saying they tried to rescue Foley with SpecOp forces...I'm not confidant that it even occurred. I have no trust in the media, or the administration. Methinks it's ass coverage, as they once again dropped the ball. Never mind the fact that Obama was on the golf course inside of 15 minutes after his "heart felt" speech/statement yesterday. I'm sure the Foley family appreciated the hell out of his hollow words.

Well, as you say regardless of political leanings let's not forget the Bush clan's underhand pocket lining dealings in that region.

Wen if all the people who entered the state you propose wanted too I would say go for it, unfortunately a lot the people incorporated into such a state would more than likely not want it and would suffer like those in Afghanistan who did not want the Taliban rule. As too the press some of them will go anywhere to get a scoop, even if they die for it, I guess.

Sadly that's true of all partitions whether India/Pakistan, Iraq, Yugoslavia or whatever, it's just a ridiculous pipe dream I know but the only way these people can be defeated is if the vast majority of their fellow Moslems who don't share their fanatical vision choose to stand up and be counted.
The more the West and others get involved the more they will use this against us and portray this as an Us v Them battle.

Is it for us to say what is the "right" or "wrong" interpretation of Islam?

You are correct that Saudi is quite close to IS, if not now, in their origins. If you look at the conquest of Arabia in the early part of the 20th century by ibn Saud and his Ikhwan soldiers, they were very similar to IS.

That sword on the Saudi flag-- its not metaphorical . . .

Wow, Obama's one trick pony show again. Throw more bombs. Well, that's just more smoke and mirrors. For those who still have not noticed yet. Bombs are useless here. You can not kill an idea with a few laser-guided (so much for 'No boots on the ground') bombs. Period.

Daesh has recruited 6,000 new fighters in July alone. And those are just the numbers from Syria. In fact, Obama's bombs are a very effective recruitment strategy for the IS. It seems the West has learned absolutely nothing. Stupid is as stupid does. This policy only makes sense if one assumes that the real goal is to strengthen radikal islam.

https://www.middleeastmonitor.com/ne...-exceeds-50000

Think about it. 11 years ago, the concentrated military power of the West has invaded Iraq and Afghanistan. Under pretexts which were completely pulled out of their filthy lying asses. Since then, millions of people have lost their lives, were mentally or physically crippled or displaced. But the chaos grows and grows, and radical islam becomes stronger every day. In other words, the mightiest military power in the world is downright useless. Ask yourself, what exactly has been achieved? Absolutely nothing, besides the always same kind of BS by the always same kind of money grabbing BS sociopaths. It's their one trick pony show, their golden goose that lays golden eggs. For them. It's very good for the MIC, the Wall Street rabble and the oil industry, but very bad and deadly for everyone else.

I will give just one example of Obama's total hypocrisy in this matter. The IS can sell 'its' oil on the international market. This is their most important source of money. Now think again. The international market is monitored and controlled 24/7 by the government of the United States. You should ask yourself the following simple question. How is that possible? Some tankers with Libyan terrorist oil were immediately blocked and confiscated by the US Navy.

http://www.bbc.com/news/world-africa-26609025

Strange, but true.
