Question about status of forum members and associated rights

So.....a VIP, is a famous/semi famous (all but in one instance) female,
that graces us with their presence here at VEF. Who determines that
this famous/semi famous person, is in fact who they say they are rather
than a rabid fan of that person, and gives that person their VIP status?
Just seems like that's something that could happen is why I ask.

Staff has an established procedure here for identifying the individual involved. If they can prove that they are who they say they are through that procedure, Admin will promote that person to VIP.

So the "person", has to prove that they're who they say they are to become
a VIP? How's that go? lol "Oooooook.....license, registration, and fill out this

You forgot the fingerprints, credit check, background check and security clearance check..

We have a verification process that actually works pretty well, trust me.

Oh I trust ya Jenny! lol ......it's that weird "fanboy" fella with a crush on

My guess is the procedure is similar to reddit's AMA process, where the proposed VIP has to PM a pic with an admin's name on a dated piece of paper. Either that or bank paperwork showing they've been named trustee to their estate.

...in addition to the legend that is erwin, whose moniker is on the confirmation email I received after joining in 2007.

I thought being able to edit the text that appears under your username (that says in my case 'Vintage Member') was a privilege of Veteran Members and above. But now I see 3 Vintage Members who appear to have done just that:
