Saving Private Ryan

"Ssssssshhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh"

This scene creeps me out and makes me squirm like nothing else. Only saw the film once many years ago but "Ssssshhhhhhhhhhhhhh" is burned into my psyche. Favorite line? Maybe not. But the most powerful, definitely.

Speaking of SPR, was the German who shot Cpt Miller the same guy they let go earlier?

The first time I saw it was an early morning matinee. The theater was about 1/4 full. I was about the only single young (48) person there. Everyone else was much older, couples mostly, obviously vets, maybe even a few from WWII. At the opening scene, I heard sniffles and sobs. One guy had to go out into the lobby for a few minutes.

Another time, many years ago, I was driving to work, and a local airport was having a small airshow. They had some replica planes painted with German markings, flying low over the road, and I remember seeing a guy veer off to the shoulder and stop. When I passed him he had a death grip on the wheel, red-faced and shaking.

How many of you have seen the movie "Shooter"? Got the book, which is much better. The movie is decently done, I will give it that.

The one scene I still chuckle over is when Bob Lee and Nick Memphis go to see Mr. Rate - Levon Helm's character who knows everything there is about guns and rifles. Just the way Mr. Rate puts certain things across made me chuckle.

Rate: "Woulda been a bad job to take, though."
Memphis: "How come?"
Rate: "Who ever took that shot is probably dead now. That's how a conspiacy works. Them boys on the grassy knoll - they were dead within 3 hours. Buried in the dam desert in unmarked graves out past Terra Lingua."
Memphis: "And you know this for a fact?"
Rate: "Still got the shovel."

It is hard to beat Rutgar Haur's entire soliloquy at the end of BladeRunner.
"All those....moments....will be lost in time.....like tears....in.....rain......time to die"

Peter O'Toole

My Favorite Year

O'Toole's character (notorious drunk) mistakenly enters the ladies room

<Women in Ladies Room>
"This is for Ladies Only!"

<Peter O'Toole (having taken out his willie)>
"And so is this, mum. But every now and again I have to run a little water through it."

From The air I breathe:-

Eddie: That's the boss' nephew (Tony)?
Tony: [in the background, upon seeing Fingers' desk] Nigga what? This f**king thing is huge!
Eddie: What's he like?
Tony: [background] F**k me! This is just like f**k!
Pleasure: Articulate.

Default Where Eagles Dare

Right after the conference room scene where Richard Burton has revealed that literally no one on the secret mission is whom they seem to be:

Burton: Now we need to create enough confusion to get out of here.

Clint Eastwood: Major, right now you've got me as confused as I ever hope to be.

Classic
